Rancho Palos Verdes, California is home to one of the most notorious gun-producing areas in the world. The town was founded by Spaniards in 1847 as Rancho San Vicente de las Flores and has been known for its firearms ever since. Production continued until 1935 when it was closed due to World War II military procurement restrictions. During World War II, many American soldiers serving on the front lines discovered that German handguns were much more accurate than their own firearms. As a result of this discovery, Banderas Firearms resumed operations after the war but only made small arms products again until 1955 when it finally closed down completely due to budget constraints within the Mexican government's Weapons Industry Board program (WIB). In 1853, Don Pedro Barcia purchased a parcel of land east of present-day Del Mar Boulevard from Josefa Ortiz and married her sister Maria Linares Barcia. He named his new rancho after his friend and mentor General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna who had helped him purchase this land from Luis Ferrer in 1848. In 1865 Don Pedro sold his holdings back to Josefa Ortiz with some additional land grants including portions of Monterey Peninsula which became part of Pasadena County in 1893; as well as what is now Irvine Park (inlet) on Harbor Island in Newport Beach (the former site of Laguna Honda). In 1897, Theodore Roosevelt established a summer home at Knob Hill on the western side of Orange Coast Highway near Villa Hermosa Lodge & Spa adjacent to Myrtlescence beach south of Laguna Honda Village Center or so it seemed during their stay there from March 15 through April 4 inclusive when they open fired off 26 rounds at tho general's horse farm & stables while he motored around Sepulveda Valley looking for an escape route following an attack by insurgents on Alta Mesa Army Training Camp several miles northeast near Tarzana on February 13th supported by rifle fire from nearby Mount Vernon Barracks also located between Cypress Hills and North Hollywood). Rancho Palos Verdes, California is a community located in San Francisco County, California. It was founded on May 25, 1887 by J.P. Morgan and James Irvine as Rancho Viejo del Pueblo. The name derived from the Spanish word palos (a type of palm) and verdes (highlands). As of the 2010 U.S. Census there were 20,086 people residing in Rancho Palos Verdes Community College District No. 1A, of which 17,406 are students who attend classes at the college district's three campuses: Rancho Palos Verdes High School; Rancho Palos Verdes Intermediate School; and Rancho Palos Verdes Middle School. The first post office opened at Rancho Viejo del Pueblo on October 16, 1888. The town was officially incorporated on November 3rd of that year with Wm Haggerty as its first mayor and Cesar Chavez as its first treasurer In 1907 John Deveraux opened his cattle ranch adjacent to what is now Fairfield Avenue in what is now East Palo Alto Deveraux donated land for a public square on his property in 1909 which became known as Fairfield Square . The Square was renamed Rancho Palos Verdes after Captain Fritchey’s purchase of large tracts of land east of San Francisco Bay from Juan Bautista de Arellano in 1828 – one tract being purchased for $5,000 . Captain Fritchey named his holdings “Rancho Ventura” after himself but they reverted to their original name upon his death in 1851 . AfterCaptainFritchey’s death , Granada grantee Miguel Larrea took possession for about ten years until he sold it to Antonio Maria Olivas y Vargas in 1876 Larrea named his holdings “Ranchito Lescure” but it reverted back to its original name upon his death also within a few years . l cargill obtained title to alluvial fill underlying Captain Fritchey land grants early 1900″ following an arbitration case brought against him by stockholders including George Hearst Jr., publisher/editor of The New York Times whom they accused him of theft during the aforementioned trial period
