The first Rancho Mirage softgun range opened its doors in 1945. The range operated until 1969 when it closed due to budget cuts within the NRA. However, it reopened under new management two years later and continued operation until 1984 when it closed again due to budget cuts within the NRA once again. However, it reopened under new management once more before closing for good on October 3rd, 1984.

Rancho Mirage, California is a small town located in the Mojave Desert of Southern California. Situated on 160 acres (60 ha) of rolling hills and desert terrain, it is one of the most isolated towns in the United States. The population was 1,823 at the 2010 census. The first white man to set foot in Rancho Mirage was Hiram Bithorn in 1874. He named his land Rancho Mirage after his ranch near Palm Springs, which he had bought from José Maria Ascalón. The name may have been inspired by Indian chief Mira Loma who used to live near present-day Palm Springs. In 1886, Jens Jensen built a cabin on what is now known as Main Street. In 1907, developer William Fenton purchased 7 square miles (18 km²) of Rancho Mirage land and laid out four blocks of streets grid-wise with two squares between each block for agricultural purposes only – Fenton called these "Fenton Streets". Fenton Avenue runs perpendicular to these streets along today's Equestrian Boulevard and hosts several businesses including Applebee's and Burger King that are still open today despite being around since the early 1970s when they were first opened in Waco Heights Shopping Center across town on University Drive - which later became part of Interstate 10 east of downtown Los Angeles before becoming I-10 again north of Downtown LA before splitting into an east/west corridor connecting Carson City and Ontario – all within about 25 miles (40 km) driving distance from Rancho Mirage proper according to Google Earth . One should note that this plan never came to fruition as there were too many other interests involved with developing or purchasing Fenton Streets - some examples include Union Pacific Railroad Company who wanted their tracks bisected through town so they could use it as a closer center for their locomotives servicing both sides of I-10; oil companies such as Standard Oil who wanted access to local water supplies necessary for drilling operations;developers interested in housing developments such as Jay Siegel who developed what would become Today's Ballpark Drive; etc... However, there are several buildings still standing from this period including: Western Star Cafe which stood until 1984 when it was destroyed by fire; First National Bank building which still stands today next door to USPost Office; Gilded Cage restaurant also remaining intact even though closed since 1978; etc... It wasn't until 1953 that development really began earnestly with construction beginning on what would become North Point Golf Course off County Road 24 just beyond modern day Anthem Parkway - gateway into Rancho Mirage proper from Interstate 10 . This course helped start the current trend towards more suburban living with large homes rather than rural dwellings throughout most southern Californias communities during this time period... What followed were years dominated by high profile events such as President Dwight D Eisenhower's Address at North Point Golf Course where he talked about how " democracy cannot work without freedom" & then hosted a barbecue afterwards topped off by demonstrations & horseback riding over Donner Summit mountain peak visible from Plitvice Lakes Resort while Eisenhower made final remarks... Later that year Ford Motor Company held their annual chrysler test drive at nearby Lake Arrowhead while another large event occurred when 60% owner John Kluge donated $1 million dollars towards college education for students attending UCLA & Claremont Colleges
