Bipedalism, also known as bipedality, is the presence of two human legs in a single body. It is first documented in the fossil record in the form of Ardipithecus trapezius, which was found with two complete lower limbs and no upper limbs. The first humans to walk on two legs were probably Homo heidelbergensis, who lived in what is now Germany around 150,000 years ago. From there we see evidence for bipedalism throughout the world through Cavemen to Neanderthals. In North America during the Ice Age an animal known as Clovis may have had three toes on each foot and this would make him the first living human to walk upright on two Legs!
In the early days of air combat, pilots relied on bipods to stabilize their aircraft. Today, bipods are still a common tool for airborne units, and they play an important role in ground war as well. Bipedalism provides advantages in stability and range when operating in tight spaces or at high speeds. Additionally, bipods can be used as footholds while standing to allow higher-speed operations. Bipedalism also opens up new opportunities for weaponization. For example, soldiers using assault rifles can stand on the ends of bipods to fire through the sights; this allows them to operate more accurately and quickly than with traditional weapons platforms. In addition, running games require athletes to use both feet simultaneously as part of their stride; using a stick would be difficult and not ideal for such tasks. By adding a bipod onto an existing rifle platform, developers were able to create a unique weapon that is perfect for the task at hand.
The Rancho Mirage Manufacturing Company was founded in 1923 by the merger of two companies, the Irvine Manufacturing Company and the San Bernardino Manufacturing Company. The company manufactured bicycles, cars, and other transportation products. It closed its doors in 1987.
Rancho Mirage, California is a small city in Inland Empire County, California, United States. The population was 7,858 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Bernardino– Riverside Metropolitan Statistical Area. The City of Rancho Mirage was platted on December 12, 1912 by J. P. Morgan and James Fenton as part of a group of towns formed to help protect the railroad right-of-way running through the Inland Empire area west of Orange County. The name came from General John Sutter's Rancho Mirage Indian Reservation east of town which had been assigned to him by Mexico after his victory over Spain in 1846. The first buildings in Rancho Mirage were cabins built by Morgan and Fenton on their ranch north of town during 1913-1914 for their employees who worked for Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E). The company was later acquired by Southern Pacific Railroad and became branch line #1 (now Amtrak) from Los Angeles to Redlands before being rerouted south to Anaheim in 1949. PG&E also donated land for what is now City Park southeast of town which opened in 1922. In 1929, PG&E merged with Western Electric Corporation forming North American Telephone & Telegraph Company (Natel). Natel donated its property (including some parts of present day downtown) northeast of town to the city for use as an experimental airfield used by Bell Aircraft Corporation between 1928 and 1932 as a test site for winged aircraft design that would become known as "the Great American Flight". After World War II ended, ownership passed from Bell to AT&T until divestiture in 1984 made it available to the city government again which has used it primarily as a Pepco substation since 1992 when connection began across I-5 from downtown into South Pasadena making it easier to get here from South Gate Airport near Long Beach Polytechnic University than getting out via SR 805 into neighboring counties such as Norwalk or Torrance In recent years much development has taken place around City Park with several large mixed-use projects completed including: Anheuser Busch Brewery – new brewing facility; Marriott Marquis Resort hotel – adult/child suites; Staples Center – home arena for both NBA and NHL teams; Applebees restaurant complex – anchored by Applebee's brand - largest restaurant complex outside North America; Honda Civic Arena - formerly Donahoe Coliseum - multi purpose stadium used also for track/Field events
Bipedalism, or the use of two legs to move about, began with the development of walking trees. The first bipedal humans may have walked along a single support (a tree), but as they got better at maintaining balance and using their two legs for other tasks, they needed to create more space between them and their surroundings. This led to the development of bipods – four-legged machines that consisted of two separate limbs working together. These include crutches and braces, which helped people with disabilities walk easier and also allowed those who couldn’t walk to operate heavy machinery or do other dangerous jobs. It became a central post-war American town, due to its location at the junction of two major routes: the Southern Pacific Railway's line from San Bernardino to Los Angeles and Route 66 (later US 101). The City was platted on October 16, 1887 by John Salter and James Waddell. The town had an estimated population of 100 people when it was first established. It quickly became a dry farming community with irrigation potential being its main attraction. By 1908 there were over 1,000 residents in Rancho Mirage. The First National Bank opened in Rancho Mirage on October 9th 1903. In 1907 the United States Post Office opened at Rancho Mirage with mail service only between Los Angeles and San Bernardino county. In 1912 oil began to be drilled for gas around Rancho Mirage and development accelerated as a result; however water supplies also improved rapidly so that growth slowed gradually until 1933 when annexation of adjacent unincorporated areas brought rapid growth once more becoming one of Southern California’s fastest-growing cities during that time period
