The ZIP code 92336 has a population of over 20,000 people. Rancho Cucamonga was established in 1851 as part of Rancho San Bernardino de la Frontera Mexican land grant. It became an incorporated city on January 3, 1923. The history of Rancho Cucamonga began with Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo's arrival on October 15, 1769 on his flagship "Nimitz". He claimed what is now Inyo County and named it Nuestra Señora de las Montañas (Our Lady of the Mountain Peaks). On July 26, 1851, Antonio Castro purchased 6 square miles (15 km²) of that same land from Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo for $1 per acre ($/ha). This area became known as rancho CA-5 or "Los Padres" after Pico de la Hoz (the peak). In 1877 Manuel Nieto donated 400 acres (16 hectares) to the community for agricultural purposes which became known as "Monomoso Park". A year later another donation by Manuel Nieto provided 4 more acres (.12 hectares) for educational purposes including a schoolhouse and barns. At this time there were only 10 residents living in rancho CA-5 but soon thereafter growth led to incorporation into the City of Rancho Cucamonga on January 3rd 1923. Today there are over 20,000 people living within rancho CA-5 limits with businesses such as Staples Inc., McDonald's Corporation and Barnes & Noble Company having operations throughout much of the downtown core along El Camino Real corridor. There are also numerous restaurants scattered throughout various neighborhoods within walking distance of each other with many stores clustering around Main Street near I-10 exit 16A. Although residential development continues at an rapid pace throughout downtown and northwestern portions of town many parts of town remain rural or unincorporated areas making it difficult to accurately measure any one particular dimension or sector within this rapidly growing metropolis but suffice it to say that while some aspects may have cooled off during recent years they continue to experience significant growth – thus substantiating their status as one of Southern California’s fastest growing communities!

In 1912, the Cucamongas bought an additional piece of land from José Bautista y Comiskey and developed it into a high school called Rancho Cucamonga High School. It operated until 1972 when it closed due to budget cuts. In 1977, Rancho Cucamonga became part of the City of Banning after Banning voters passed a resolution authorizing the city to annex the property. As part of that annexation, Rancho Cucamonga lost its water supply and ceased operations on July 1, 1978. Today, parts of Rancho Cucamonga still remain undeveloped and are used as open space or for agriculture purposes. Some areas have been turned into neighborhoods while others have become active commercial districts such as Downtown Los Angeles and Midtown LOS ANGELES area which include many upscale businesses like Macy's Department Store and Sears Tower which were once located in sections of Banning that were annexed into RanchoCUC among other developments thereabouts during this time frame too
Rancho Cucamonga was founded in 1874 by Tom and Alice Martin. The Martins were the first white people to live in Rancho Cucamonga, and they built the first house on the current site of the City of Rancho Cucamonga. In 1880, John Leland bought land adjacent to the M Roadhouse and established a ranch there. The Leland family continued to operate their ranch until 1916. In 1933, Harry Chandler purchased part of the Leland Ranch from his father-in-law, Frank Chandler. Harry Chandler developed portions of Rancho Cucamonga into one of Southern California's largest agricultural communities. He is also responsible for helping make Rancho Cucamonga one of Southern California's most popular tourist destinations. Rancho Cucamonga was annexed by Los Angeles in 1912, but it reverted back to its original name after annexation.
