On October 8, 1886, large granite boulders were discovered at one of rancho's miles-long entrances into Inyo County - marking the beginning of what is now known as "the gold rush years" for Rancho Cucamonga and other areas around it. By 1890, most residents had left for various reasons - but some continue to live there today including family members of pioneer settlers who have lived on the property for generations
