The track has been used for many different events over the years such as auto races and amateur baseball games. When it opened, it was one of the largest tracks in North America. In 1976, John F Kennedy campaigned on behalf of then gubernatorial candidate Ronald Reagan at an event at Earlham Park where he said: "Ich bin der Amerikaner und meine Herren sind die Jungs vom Norden – das weißt du ja! So unser Kampf steht fest!" This quote was later quoted by Mr. Reagan during his first term as President of United States (1981-1989). From 1976 until 2003 there were annual drag racing meetings at Earlham Park which featured some of California's most prominent drivers such as Darrell Waltrip and Ricky Rudd among others. Finally in 2003 after pressure from environmental groups who felt that Drag Racing at Earlham Park should no longer be allowed due to its high levels of emissions Arnie Swartz changed the rules so that only open stock cars are allowed and race distances have decreased over time making it more environmentally friendly than ever before

Rancho Cordova was founded in 1853 by George C. Smith and his partners, John Sutter and William H. Yount. The site was originally a small ranch on the eastern slope of Mount Whitney, about 12 miles northeast of Sacramento. In 1865, Smith and Yount purchased an additional 5,000 acres (2 km²) east of their original holdings to create Rancho Cordova y Las Pulgas (later Rancho Santa Fe). The name "Rancho Cordova" was chosen for its resemblance to Spanish words meaning "wilderness." In 1905, president Theodore Roosevelt made Rancho Cordova one of five Sitesselectedforthe foundingof the National Park Service. The growing population in Sacramento led to increased development on theranchoside roads that bisected Rancho Santa Fe from Los Angeles County; some residents began referring to it as "THE GARDEN OF THE West". In 1940, President Franklin D. Roosevelt designated part of Rancho Santa Fe as part of Anza-Borrego Desert State Park; this area includes much of today's City Of Anza de la Frontera
