Poway is a city in San Diego County, California, United States. The population was 21,598 at the 2010 census. Poway is located on theinal Coast of San Diego Bay and it borders Carlsbad to the north, Encinitas to the east, and La Jolla to the south. It has a Mediterranean climate with hot summers and mild winters. The first permanent Europeans to arrive in what is now Poway were Felipe Cabeza de Vaca and his companions who landed on July 26, 1542 on what is now known as Rancho Santa Fe del Sur during their journey from Mexico City back home. America was still mostly undiscovered then so there wasn’t much traffic going on between Asia and Europe which limited opportunities for exploration or trade. However, when Mexican independence was gained in 1821 by General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna this changed all that as Mexicans started trading with America instead of just India or Spain because they felt like they had been wronged by their Spanish colonial masters. In 1848 Alvarado sold part of Rancho El Morro for $2 million to James Waddell who named it Poway after himself (Waddell also acquired some land northeast of town). At that time Poway consisted of about 100 adobe homes with a few small ponds where cattle were pastured. The community grew quickly thanks to its location next door to freeways and easy access to water supplies which made it an ideal place for farming cotton and other crops; however, many people lost everything during the 8-inch economic recession that hit Southern California in 1992-1994 followed by la berceña Stock market crash of 1929 which devastated much southern California economy including Poway’s agricultural sector while making financial gains for those near downtown Los Angeles throughout most of the 1930s until finally becoming majority Hispanic again following passage of Proposition 187 in 1986 essentially discriminating against non-Hispanic whites within city limits outside Of Mexican heritage In 1994 movie producer George Lucas purchased 10% interest in Goldenvoice Recording Corporation (later Hollywood Records) which included own recording studio west side lot adjacent To Town Hall plaza & facilities used by Univision affiliate KNBC5 TV Station) & began production on “Star Wars” film originally set at nearby Ranchero Resort before moving production barracks & soundstage from Playa Vista across Harbor Bridge into newly built $175 million Empire State Building main studios adjoining Plaza Mayor—thus creating one world center for motion pictures (& merchandising) operations within city limits only! Poway experienced rapid growth following incorporation as a city under state law on November 3rd, 1995 with a new mayor appointed by Governor Gray Davis who served until January 2nd 2001 when he was defeated by incumbent Dianne Feinstein due largely to her strong support for pro-business policies enacted during her previous term while mayor (the largest donation ever given below $100k directly to any political candidate statewide in California). After she took office she focused almost exclusively on economic development priorities such as job creation through various partnerships including Measure B which created over 171K jobs since its inception – resulting in nearly doubling our GDP since its enactment! On February 14th 2009 Mayor Dianne Feinstein announced her candidacy for re-election but lost handily against Republican challenger Kevin Faulconer
