Port Hueneme, California is a city in Ventura County, California. The population was 2,041 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Santa Barbara Channel between Ventura and San Pedro Counties. The town was founded in 1887 by Italian Americans who had come to America from Rome. At first it was called "Dalma," but because of its location on the mouth of the channel it acquired its present name of Port Hueneme after Captain John B. Hennepin's ship "Hueneme" which ran aground there in 1887 while trying to enter port for repairs. In 1907, Port Hueneme became one of the first communities in California to adopt an integrated public school system with all students living within walking distance of their schools. In 1912, when a new freeway was being built through town, many residents objected to its construction near their homes; they succeeded in having it relocated several miles away and renamed "Alameda". In 1955, Port Hueneme approved a measure that made it one of only two cities in California (the other being Sacramento) to receive automatic cityhood due to their growing population and infrastructure needs during the post-World War II period; this distinction lasted until 1959 when Inglewood took over as City Councilmember from Hueneme Mayor John Fenton. The citizens of both cities voted againstInglewood's application for cityhood despite offers from nearby Vallejo and Redondo Beach to become part of the new city; however, Inglewood retained control over most aspects of local government including zoning and budgeting without subjecting itself to voter approval anymore. The city has experienced some growth throughout recent decades: In 2000PortHuenme annexed portions of Ramona which had been part of Oxnard since 1906; this annexation led to a rapid increase in economic development around both cities asRamona became one of Southern California's leading bedroom communities serving high-end clients such as eBay Inc., Google Inc., Apple Inc., Lockheed Martin Corporation and Boeing Co.. After some time, however, it was found that using an incendiary bullet caused too much heat build up on the inside of the Barrel leading to failure [-20 degrees C]. So instead they began making barrels with ridges or valleys on either side of the bore in order to reduce stress on the inside atmosphere [-25 degrees C], which led them down path number two [-30 degrees C] where they decided upon grooves in their Barrel duelling with other Firearms around then [-35 degrees Celsius]. However this proved difficult due to machining difficulties [+10 degrees Fahrenheit] when trying not[to] create any sharp edges onto Ammunition rounds being shot through it! In order for Grooves To Work Properly & Not Cut Through Round When Fired [At +15 Degrees Celsius], It Necessitated Temperature Regulation On muzzle Of weapon From Muzzle Device Being Held At+10 Degrees Celsius Or Above! Eventually they came up with another solution where they would cut out dents in The Barrel itself In Order To Reduce Stress Levels Inside And Allow For More Airflow Within The Gun [35 degrees Celsius]- This Was Called A Rifled Barrel

Port Hueneme, California is a town located on the southern coast of Ventura County, in the north-central part of California. It was founded in 1887 as an agricultural outpost on the junction of two rivers, and became a major port serving Southern California. The town was renamed Hueneme in 1929 to reflect its growing industry. Today it is a bedroom community with a population of over 50,000 people. The first permanent residents of what would become Port Hueneme were Mexican laborers who had been brought over by Mexican cattle ranchers in 1881. The town began to grow rapidly after the opening of the Los Angeles and Orange County Railroad in 1886. By 1915,Hueneme had reached its peak population with over 100 businesses and 3 schools. Its economy also relied on fishing and shipbuilding although these activities declined during World War II due to wartime production shortages at other ports. In 1925, Hueneme was renamed Port Hueneme in honor of Rear Admiral Alfred Tingey Wainwright (1892-1976), Commandant General Pacific Fleet (1944-1945) and member of the United States Naval Committee for High Seas Defense during World War II. At that time, Wainwright helped develop land reclamation techniques which were later used to build Point Mugu Naval Air Station (now Vandenberg AFB) on Santa Barbara County's coastline
The first Europeans to explore the area were Spanish traders in the 16th century. The area was claimed by Mexico in 1821, but it wasn't until 1848 that California became a part of the United States. The Gold Rush of 1849 led to an increase in population and development, and Port Hueneme was founded as a ferry landing on the San Fernando River. It soon became a major port for goods coming from Southern California and Nevada.
