Pomona, California is a city located in Ventura County, California, on the shore of Ventura Harbor. The population was 17,876 at the 2010 census. The Act provided for a county seat within each new county and designated Alhambra as the new county seat. Pomona also experienced some significant growth during World War II when many American servicemen moved into the city after enlisting or being drafted into military service outside of California. One such serviceman was Jack Kennedy who lived in adjacent Bel Air until he moved into his own home nearby after his induction into the U.S armed forces on December 12th, 1940 just weeks before he would become president of America on January 20th 1941
