Gun protection history in Pomona, California began with the establishment of the Pomona Rifle and Pistol Club in 1892. The club was founded to provide an effective means for defense against criminals and other threats to public safety. The club held its first meeting at the old San Gabriel Mission Church. From those early beginnings, the club has been instrumental in promoting gun control and firearm safety within the Pomona community. In 1907, the Pomona Rifle and Pistol Club established a shooting range on land donated by Mrs. Lillie Cephus. The range served as a major source of Gun education for residents of Pomona until it was closed by the city government in 1961 due to budgetary concerns. In 1984, local resident Charlie Weisman donated land adjacent to his home to become a Shooting Range again! It is now open every day from 9am-3pm! The current armory complex located at 1201 N Main Street opened in 1972 following a $1 million donation from William "Billy" Beaumont III. At that time, it became one of only five private gun ranges across California which allowed citizens to shoot handguns without having prior permission from their municipality or county authorities! Today, NRA members are able to use this range for all types of firearms including pistols (CCW), rifles (Rifle/Shotgun), shotguns ( Shotgun Only ), muzzleloaders, airguns & more!

In 1848, Captain Fenton Vail founded the town of Claremont on lands grant from Haig Herring and others near modern-day Claremont Village on State Route 192 (now Interstate 10). In 1851, James Winchester bought all of northeastern Pasadena from Mexico for $5,000 (). He named it "Pasadena" after his father's home state of Virginia. The town experienced rapid growth due to its location close to two major railroads – Southern Pacific Railroad and Drury Lane Road – as well as new housing developments such as White Sands Avenue and Montecito Avenue. Businesses included grocery stores, dry goods stores, lumberyards, blacksmiths and bakeries; there were also several small breweries until prohibition shut them down in 1920. By 1870—the year that statewide annexation occurred which consolidated 36 local jurisdictions into one – Pasadena had a population of over 100 people living in 24 blocks with businesses totaling $32 million dollars ($ when adjusted for inflation). The arrival of white Americans did not completely alleviate race tensions existing since early 1800s Amongst other things this led to social unrest among Anglo Californians who desired increased autonomy from Mexican America while also asserting their cultural superiority over Hispanic Americans through education etc., leading to numerous riots throughout the late 19th century including some during which entire neighborhoods were burned or looted

The Pomonas were the first white families to live in Kern County. The community grew rapidly during the early years of the 20th century due to its location on the railroad and its access to water resources. Today, Pomona is a vibrant community with a population of over 6,000 people who enjoy all that the area has to offer. The history of Pomona begins with Myron C. Pomona and his wife Fannie Bullock Pomona. They came to California in 1871 from Tennessee and had two children – Myron Jr. and Ruthie Pemberton Pomona. At that time, California was still part of Mexico and there was no way for Americans to own land in this new state. So, Myron decided he would buy some land from the Mexican government for $5 per acre (about $40 today). He named his new settlement "Pomona" after his wife's birth place in Tennessee (Pemberton Place). The couple built their home on what is now Main Street at the junction of East 2nd Street and West 3rd Street within months of their arrival in Kern County. In addition to their home, they also started a small grocery store next door which soon became an important hub for local commerce. Their farm offered milk products, eggs, meat, vegetables, fruits and other goods to local residents as well as visitors who stopped by their house on tours of Cali-Forum Railway Station or took a boat ride downriver from River Park Landing downstream into downtown Kern Valley beyond." Apopka Canyon: Pioneer Settlement Site "[p]ioneer settlers discovered Apopka Canyon while exploring western Kern Valley region during 1872-1873 survey led by Captain John Sutter;[38] it lay between Bakersfield eastward along Dry Creek watershed then south through present day Orangeburg Junction area before terminating near present day Fresno." Apopka Canyon likely served as an encampment site where Native American tribes gathered during times when trade routes crossed through this section of valley

Pomona was founded by Mexican Americans in 1853 as an agricultural center on land granted to them by Governor Manuel Micheltorena. The city's name comes from Spanish poniente, meaning "mountain peak." The first businesses in Pomona were cattle herding operations. The town was originally named Indian Wells after one of the local Native American villages that had been abandoned due to settlement encroachment by white people. A post office was established at Pomona in 1854, and growth continued until 1881 when a railroad station was built and Pomona became part of Los Angeles County. In 1959, development began in what would become downtown Pomona with the opening of Pacific Gas & Electric Company's new power plant. This led to an increase in tourism which helped drive economic development around the plant until it closed in 2006. Since its closure, many popular tourist attractions have moved into downtown Pomona such as Claremont Colleges (the largest university within Pomona), Pitzer University and Adobe Systems Incorporated headquarters building where many companies relocated after their plant closed down or were acquired by other companies
