In the 1920s and 1930s, Pleasanton experienced significant growth as an industrial center thanks to its location near the San Francisco Bay Area. However, during World War II it lost much of its economic importance due to its proximity to enemy territory. Today, Pleasanton is a small but vibrant community with strong ties to its rural surroundings.
