Gun slings have a long and varied history in the City of Pleasanton. The earliest reference to gun slings is from 1868 when W.H.Saunders, a contractor for the City of San Francisco, built a series of portable launchers to use as target practice at city parks. These launchers were made from logs that had been cut into pieces about 12 feet wide and 10 feet long and then rigged with line and swivels to aim at moving targets. In 1895, Municipal Judge Atherton developed an improved system for firing guns by attaching heavy lead shot baskets to stakes in the ground near his courtroom. This system allowed people to fire cannonballs at stationary targets without having their firearms damaged or lost. For many years, these cannons fired rounds that could kill small game such as rabbits or squirrels while also causing minimal damage to the buildings around them. A later development occurred in 1903 when Mayor White erected a large pole in front of City Hall where he could shoot large birds with his rifle while seated on a throne-like chair that was located beneath the pole. This so-called “Bird Gun” functioned as both a shooting gallery and target range for citizens of Pleasanton during peacetime; it was not until 1935 that the pole was replaced by the current building which still stands today. In 1938, Municipal Judge Beavers introduced what is considered to be the first handgun sling system in California when he attached short bowsd backpacks filled with arrows Kentuckiana style (a type of bow used effectively by hunting deer). At first this method only worked well enough for personal defense purposes; however, over time it became more popular among local farmers who used it as part of their rural militia program In 1948, Municipal Judge Haskins issued Ordinance No 3 which allowed persons over 21 years old who possessed no other form of firearm license or registration certificate to possess one handgun per month without having any restrictions placed upon them In 1970, Municipal Court judge Janes introduced what is now known as “Janes Slings” which are designed specifically for sporting events such as paintball games and airsoft tournaments . These slings are made from heavy duty commercial webbing instead of thin cotton fabric like most previous versions because they provide better comfort compared to traditional handguns/slings systems

The City of Pleasanton receives state funding through the Regional Transportation Equity Act of 1990, which provides funds for transportation infrastructure projects across Contra Costa County including transportation expansions to improve public transport service within the city limits and elsewhere within the county. In recent years, there have been plans to re-establish bus service between downtown Pleasanton and South San Francisco BART Station (which shares tracks with Muni Metro), however these plans have not materialized yet
