In 1865, the hat company changed their name to “John Brown” Hats and continued making hats until 1902 when they merged with another hat company to form “Famous John Brown” Hats Incorporated. Famous John Brown’s hats continued being manufactured until 1969 when production stopped because of World War II.
Pleasant Hill is a small town in Alameda County, California, United States. The population was 1,821 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Francisco Bay Area. Pleasant Hill is located on the eastern edge of Alameda County and is bordered by Contra Costa County to the north, Hayward County to the west and south, and Berkeley Township to the east. The first Europeans to visit Pleasant Hill were Spanish missionaries in 1795. By 1800, there were about 100 people living in Pleasant Hill. The town's first post office was established in 1824. In 1865, Pleasant Hill became a city when it adopted a new charter from the California state government. PleasantHill has been occupied by Native Americans since before European settlement began in Alameda County. A group of Mission Indians known as The Hetch Hetchy Band of ladderbacks lived here from 1847 until they were driven out by white settlers in 1853. In 1860, Michael J Irish founded Irish Land Company which developed two parcels of land that included much of what would become Pleasant Hill today: east side (northwest corner), now part of Pacific Heights; and west side (southwest corner), now part of University Avenue/McCormick Place neighborhood near Stanford University). For many years these areas remained undeveloped because Mr. Irish required all his land to be used for farming only—a practice that continues today with some hunting rights on smaller parcels still granted under this system today . A few years later another developer named David Winters bought some additional land from Michael Ireland for $1 per acre ($50 million dollars back then) which would eventually becomeknown as "Winters Row". From here Winters started developing what would become one of Silicon Valley's most famous neighborhoods: Priceline Park adjacent to his development along El Camino Real (now Orinda Boulevard). Thanks largely to Japanese American businessman Issei Nakamura who had moved his family from Japan into San Francisco during World War II and then reopened an old military airbase called Willow Grove after its closure - Nakamura donated money towards building several homes on Winters Row which soon became known as Nakamura Village or "Nakamuratown". In 1954, Oakland-based Hewlett-Packard created its first corporate headquarters outside North America at 720 E Concord Ave., just east of Nakamura Village... This location remains Honjo Technology Center today but also contains various businesses such as Apple Inc.'s monstrous glass factory facing Lake Merritt across Interstate 580; Google parent company Alphabet Inc.'s massive data center just off I-580 inside a large shopping mall built specifically for their facility; Facebook’s second largest campus outside Zuckerbergjugend Recreation Center also within walking distance - making it one of Silicon Valley’s largest concentration centers for tech companies despite being located primarily within city limits

Pleasant Hill is a small town in Contra Costa County, California, United States. The population was 1,451 at the 2010 census. It is located on the east side of San Pablo Bay and is part of the Lafayette/ Pleasant Hill–Atherton Micropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Contra Costa County were two ranch hands, Manuel Nieto and Juan Bautista de Anza, who traveled along the East Coast of North America in 1776. They named their holdings "Mountain Meadows" after Mount Tamalpais in Marin County, California. In 1849, American prospector John Sutter founded an agricultural settlement called Suttersville near what is now Pleasant Hill. Sutter's Men built a logging camp here in 1851 and began harvesting acorns from nearby mountains. In 1862-1863, General Scott's brigade under Lieutenant Colonel George A. Custer fought its way through Mexican forces at Battle of San Lorenzo Valley before moving on to First Battle of Winchester where Custer was killed. After the battle, General Scott ordered his men to free all slaves within 10 miles of his encampment so that they could be transported back to Missouri for sale into slavery there. In 1865-1866 (the year after Yosemite National Park opened), Pleasant Hill was home to Confederate soldiers who skirmished with Union troops during the Second Civil War while supplies were being gathered for the army retreating from Petersburg Peninsula following Robert E Lee's surrender at Appomattox Court House on April 6th 1865. Pleasant Hill did not participate in this conflict but saw more action down south when members of local militia defended themselves against an attack by 200 Union militiamen led by Captain John Woolridge northwest of town on February 3rd 1865 while stores were being unloaded at Fort Point Naval Shipyard across the bay from town center; this event became known as "The Battle Of Pleasant Hill". As war ended and Reconstruction began throughout most of California, much business activity slowed down until World War II when it resumed somewhat because many people had already left for service overseas or wartime production had moved to other parts of California such as Stockton or Reno Nevada etc.. When asked about his experiences during World War II he said: "I can't really remember much because I was busy fighting." However he did recall that some buildings still stand today including Sweetwater High School which served as headquarters for Pacific Air Forces during WWII and later became home to Army Air Forces Base Livermore which housed Lockheed Martin Convair Aircraft factory until it closed in 1991 . Many residents returned post-war although a few prospered elsewhere such as Alameda or Hayward CA . With technology advances starting around 1969 things changed again with new businesses opening up throughout Contra Costa County including Apple Inc., Google Earth Holdings Inc., Facebook Inc., Twitter Inc., eBay Motors LLC ect... As time went on former residents found new homes elsewhere such as Orinda CA or Fremont CA . Today there are only a few hundred people living within pleasant hill boundaries
Pleasant Hill was settled in 1849 by J.D. Richardson and his wife, Sarah, who named the community after Pleasant Hill, England. The original house on the northeast corner of North Avenue and East Street (now part of the University of California at Davis) was built by Richardson and is still standing. A second home was also built on this site in 1859. A school was established in 1870 and a Methodist church in 1875. In 1907, Pleasant Hill became an independent city with its own mayor and City Council. An annex to Davis Municipal Airport was annexed into Pleasant Hill in 1958, followed by a second annex in 1970; both annexes merged into the city limits later that year. The first post office at Pleasant Hill opened on July 1, 1850, and remained open until 1906. The first mayor of Pleasant Hill was Wm Halsey[1]. The current Mayor is Kaitlyn Harrington.[2]
