The Mission Santa Clara de San Francisco was founded on July 26, 1797 by Father José De la Garza y Costilla and brothers José Moreno and Felipe Márquez. Father Costilla laid out a small village near where he had baptized Jesus Nazareno less than two weeks earlier in Monterey Peninsula parish. In 1807, the Mission became a presidio with military jurisdiction over all settlements within its boundaries except missionsgeneral stationed outside Presidio walls; these residents were subject only to civil jurisdiction due to their relations with Mexico City authorities (see Mexican Californios). The first school in Pleasant Hill was established in 1835 by Mrs. Mary Haggerty as an Ladies' School on Main Street opposite her husband's store; it served about sixty students from ages five through eighteen. Mrs Haggerty also taught music for local churches and she helped found the first women's choir in Northern California when she sang "Ave Maria" at a religious services for thirty ladies on December 10th 1849 at Masonic Hall (now known as Angelico Cathedral). Over time more schools were established throughout eastern Contra Costa County: Stonington Female Academy opened on October 24th 1870; Delta Female Institute opened on May 6th 1875; Msgr.'s School for Girls opened on November 2nd 1880; Holy Cross Sisters’ School of Nursing began instruction on January 8th 1902 (the predecessor of UCSF); Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church Community Christian School was organized on September 22nd 1912 under direction of Revd., Dr., Emilie Kappenberg who had been Director of Schools for Women for the Sisters of Charity d'Italia Immaculate Conception since 1903 In 1916–1917 three new elementary schools – Northfield Elementary (founded 1915), Dixon Elementary (founded 1922), and East Side Elementary (founded 1924) – were built adjacent to our Lady of Mount Carmel Church which then served as both an annexe school and general purpose classroom/library until 1976 when it became an alternative education center providing online programs and degree programs Selected classes are offered online including English Language learner courses In 1984 Donny & Marie Antoinette Moorhouse developed Plano Heights into one large tract housing over 800 homes across nine neighborhoods inside or adjoining Plano Hills Regional Park while other developers quickly followed suit bringing development not just within park boundaries but also eastward into unincorporated Alameda County beyond Target Field shopping center Additional retail areas have been developed such as Redwood Shops Plaza Center anchored by Saks Fifth Avenue which includes Macy's Department Store precursor Sears Holdings Corporation - anchor tenant -Redwood Shopping Mall - rebranded Decatur Mall following its sale by Sears Holdings Corporation during 2016 redevelopment plans for this area are currently underway including construction regarding replacement or addition of more than 100 stores including anchors KFC World Headquartersenchanted Garden Resort CasinoAlamo Drafthouse Cinema complex along with several thousand residential units ultimately resulting in increased job opportunities around town thereby creating much needed revenue stability despite varying economic conditions
