Gun targets have a long and varied history in Placerville, California. The first target was created in 1873 by George H. Burgess, a local rifleman and member of the American Rifle Association. Targets were made of wood or metal, and could be hit as far away as 25 feet. The early target shooters in Placerville used small caliber rifles and shotguns to shoot at small game such as rabbits, squirrels, and pigeons. These early shooters would then take their targets into the living room or bedroom where they would sit or stand to fire off rounds at them. In 1908, the Placer County Gun Club was formed in order to promote shooting on government lands within the county. The club began using large target pistols for firing matches around town square. By 1923, the club had built two large (and still standing) target ranges: one on Main Street across from Placentia General Hospital and another on White Sands Drive east of town. The range improvements included new ground cover for better shot placement; addition of a turntable for obtaining perfect aiming angles; installation of an automatic pistol feeder/unloader; repair/replacement of several guns that had become unreliable over time; and installation of a steel frame clubhouse with concrete flooring which served as both home gymnasium and training ground for members youth and adults alike.

The Placerville Gun Club was formed in 1882. The club met at the home of Mrs. Lottie Ellington, and soon began to meet regularly at other people's homes as well. In 1886, the Placerville Gun Club organized its first annual meeting, which was attended by members from around the town. The club continued to meets annually until 1912 when it disbanded because of lack of attendance.
Placerville is a small town in the East Bay region of California. Situated on a plateau above San Francisco, it has a population of just over 1,000 people. The name “Placerville” comes from the arrival of English settlers in 1847 and its location on the “plains near Yosemite”. The original settler families were farmers who grew potatoes and other vegetables for local consumption and export to China. Today, Placerville remains an agricultural community with a focus on fruits and vegetables. It also has a few commercial businesses that provide services such as lawn care, pet sitting, and home improvement. The town was founded by John Hickey in 1847 as a stopping place for travelers on their way to the Gold Rush at Sutter's Fort. In 1865, when California became part of the United States, Placerville became part of Alameda County. With its close proximity to San Francisco and easy access to transportation options, Placerville quickly developed into an important center for trade and commerce in Alameda County. Businesses such as banks, hotels, stores, restaurants, and schools thrived during this time period. During World War II, Placerville played an important role in providing food supplies for Army units stationed in Northern California. The town also played host to various military ceremonies including ground invasion rehearsals and air-to-air combat exercises. After the war ended, many new businesses began to open up in Placerville including heavy manufacturing companies like Boeing and Lockheed Martin Corporation (now Lockheed Skunk Works). These businesses attracted high-level executives from Silicon Valley who helped spur economic growth throughout the early 21st century. 1) Today marked by agriculture & shopping: One aspect that sets Placer Village apart is its focus on agriculture - not just produce or grocery store items but whole grains (and more), processed foods etc., which are some of the most popular items hereabouts! And there's plenty of those too; fresh fruit treessit atop blocks full of↑↑↑↓↑↓ ↑↑↑↓ ↑↑ ↓ ↓ ← → ◎ ◎ 2) Many residents commute out: If you're looking for activities outside your everyday routine - nightlife or shopping malls - well look no further than either downtown SFO or Peninsula Square mall nearby! Just be aware that traffic can be pretty backed up around there at times! 3) Arts & culture: One thing you'll find prevalently hereabouts are artists - both local tattooers/inkers&gamblers (& painters!), sculptors (& ceramicists), etc.; plus lotsa music lovers right off main drag arterial artery... 4) Technology: As mentioned earlier... deed restrictions prohibit building any typesof^^^ ^^^^ technological devices herein save "cellular telephones" only!! So if you have something fancy going on inside your head... plan ahead ;) 5) Education: A big focus hereabouts seems to be getting kids outdoors & engaging them with nature; meanwhile educational institutions abound (eBay elementary school opened back up last year after being closed for years)... 6) Recreation: There's plenty of things going On Here That You Won't Find Elsewhere In This Country; From golfing (& horseback riding,)Creek walking/riding,,horseback Rodeo'ing,,,, tubing,,,,kayaking,... 7)) Shopping!: Just like everywhere else these days however,... prices tend To Be MUCH Higher HERE Than WHEREVER ELSE YOU LIVE!!!

Placerville, California is one of the oldest communities in the area. It was established by Captain George C. Smith in 1847 as a trading post on the San Joaquin River. After years of growth and development, Placerville became an independent city in 1912. The city has since grown to include over 120 neighborhoods and 2 million residents. The first settlers in what is now Placerville were fur traders who traveled down the river from Sacramento to trade with Native Americans. By 1847, there were only a few houses and no other infrastructure aside from a small creek that served as a water source for travelers and local livestock. In 1848, Captain George C. Smith, who had recently become sheriff of Contra Costa County, decided to establish a new town on the opposite side of the river from where he lived in Pleasanton. He named it after himself – "Placerville" – because he thought it would be more convenient for people to find their way there from different parts of the county using different names (e.g., "Pleasanton", "San Francisco"). By 1862, Placer County had been formed out of part of Contra Costa County and Placer Valley had been renamed Shasta Valley due to its rich occurrences of gold nuggets and other minerals found near Red Bluff (nowRedding). However, most people in this region still referred to themselves simply as " Californians ". The first structures built in what is now Placerville were log cabins used by fur traders for overnight lodging while hunting game upriver. In 1850-1851, Major General William Sherman visited California during his military campaign against Mexico and noticed many discrepancies between what he saw back home (where villages consisted of hundreds or even thousands of homes) compared to what he experienced living among Native Americans on his trip downriver before moving westward into Nevada Territory at age 24 two years later: all Indian tribes living east of Interstate 5 had been decimated by treaty negotiations following US victory over Mexican forces at Monterrey on February 14, 1846; few if any Indians remained alive within Oregon Country proper (the area bounded by Santa Clara River south along I-5 east past Modesto until its confluence with the old Rancho Seco road northwest); so much so that when Sherman reached California’s Central Valley region some 7 months later “he found only twenty lodges left standing….All across these immense ranges [of mountains] lay desolate country”1 Captain George C Smith's original post site can be seen today located just north eastOf Highway 99 between Red Bluff off Hwy 299 & Eagar off Hwy 9
The town of Placerville was founded in 1853 by Frederick W. Smith and named for General James H. Placerville, who had served in the Mexican-American War and won a Congressional Medal of Honor. The post office at Placerville was established in 1855, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1916. In 1875, a group of farmers banded together to form the California Grain Growers Association to promote grain production in the state. In 1907, the Placerville Chamber of Commerce was organized and became one of the first businesses licensed by the State Board of Equalization. In 1912, placer mining began operations on what is now known as North Street east of City Hall plaza; this led to increased development around town and helped makePlacerville an important center for trade and commerce during its early years. On November 17, 1938, a fire destroyed most of downtown Placerville after starting from an open coal mine near North Street. The city's reconstruction began immediately with money provided by local citizens and volunteers while additional donations were brought in from outlying communities. Many placer miners who had lost their jobs during the depression returned to workin downtownPlacerville during this time period; these men formed a nucleus that would continue business activity into the next decade During World War II (1939-1945), many residents worked at military sites located within or adjacent to Placidville; some remain active members of local support organizations today
