Placerville, California is located in Kern County, California. The population was 10,853 as of the 2010 Census. It is a small town located on the east side of Kern County and straddling the border of Bakersfield and Fresno Counties. The town was founded in 1867 by John Sutter and his brother George. Placerville became an incorporated village in 1907. The current mayor is Chuck Hageman. The economy of Placerville consists largely of agriculture, with a few small businesses providing services such as plumbing, car repair, and home improvement. There are also a few professional services such as law enforcement and accounting. There are two schools in Placerville: one for elementary students and one for high school students. The only store in Placerville is the Catholic Church which provides grocery shopping for residents who populate the area around it.

Placerville, California is a small community located in the Santa Cruz County Municipality, California. The population was 1,362 at the 2010 census. At least one of every three residents in Placerville was born in or near Placerville. The town site was platted in 1876 and named after George A. Platt, a railroad executive from Illinois who had come to Southern California to prospect for gold during the mid-1850s. The first post office opened in 1877 and remained open until 1914; it was then moved to its current location across from Pacific Gas & Electric Company's main building on State Route 101A. In 1886, when the Central Pacific Railway extended its line down the Butte Valley through what is now Santa Cruz County, it built a station just east of town at present-day Big Sur Road and High Street. Passenger trains stopped here for passengers waiting for engines that would take them further south along the track bed into San Francisco Bay. In 1902, when statehood came about within Californian borders as part of the 1912 US Constitution amendment giving voting rights to citizens of new US states plus Mexico (Alaska and Hawaii were admitted later that year), Placerville became part of Sacramento County; however, it continued to be known locally as "Platinum" because most citizens were highly skilled miners and their industry kept up with advances in technology throughout much of the 20th century despite being relatively little affected by advancements elsewhere in California. The last major gold rush took place here between 1918 and 1922; although some prospectors did find nuggets while walking around town during this time frame, most production occurred outside town onsite at nearby Red Bluff Mines (the largest single haul made here). After World War II ended with Japan's surrender, many Japanese Americans living near Placerville began returning home after experiencing roundup and internment camps scattered throughout Northern California following World War II without any legal process or due process - an experience which has been variously described as horrendous or embarrassing depending on perspective. By 1951 there were only a handful remaining Japanese American residents remaining inside city limits; today they are all active descendants of those who once lived there including holding occasional ceremonial events such asaza (a traditional Japanese New Year’s celebration). After years of growth and development by local businesses led by two brothers – Harry Hargrave (1915-2004)and Don Kappler (1917-2009) – Placerville experienced rapid growth starting around 1990 when state legislators passed Senate Bill 178 creating high school districts within Santa Clara County which limited property values among other things; since then everything else has gradually followed suit with no sign that anything will change anytime soon given how entrenched special interests have become both politically and economically within our community fabric over time more often than not resulting in very little progress being madeby anyone beyond those few individuals who benefit directly from their decisions/actions either through economic gain or social power wielded over others more generally
In 1847, a group of businessmen from Placerville founded the town on land that currently includes the city of Placerville. The town was named for Captain John F. Placerville, who fought in the Mexican-American War. The first post office was established in 1848. By 1870, there were over 100 residents in the town. In 1881, a school was built and Placerville became an incorporated municipality with a Mayor and City Council.
