In 1870 Pittsburg had a population of 1,000 people; it had grown 3 fold since then with waves of immigrants coming from Southern California: Chinese laborers during World War II; Hispanic/Latino farmworkers during the salad field days postwar boom; Italian miners during various strikes throughout 1969-1976 Gold Rush era; Vietnamese refugees fleeing communist Vietnam during 1975-1979 military occupation; and most recently Hispanic/Latino professionals migrating back to town as small businesses began to grow larger in recent years due to an increase in educated families living close together outside major metropolitan areas where they could easily find work opportunities that met their cultural needs while still maintaining some form of communication with their family and friends back home

The first school in Pittsburg was built on what is now Fourth Street between Main Street and Peach Orchard Road around 1875-1876 by Pemberton & Son public schools heirs Jno Witherspoon and John Gillett under contract with the local Board of Education to provide education for children living near Watertown or San Francisco during that time period when those cities were still part of Mexico City. The first store in Pittsburg opened its doors on October 14th 1870 by Daniel Davis with a small shop fronting 4th Street where he sold goods made from natural resources such as lumber and hay brought down to his farm nearby by mules overpassing Devil’s Canyon Train Station enroute from Sacramento to Stockton via Antioch which then connected with Alameda County east of Fremont before coming down through unincorporated Contra Costa County to reach Pittsburg via Eureka Valley Railroad crossing Elkhorn Creek just north of present day Clarksburg Avenue SW off I-680 exit ramp off SR 24 southbound before reaching East Bay Terminal Railroad station west side just past current day Southpark Drive NE corner of Katella Avenue NE
