In 1892, Juana Victoria García de la Hoz became the last European woman born in California when she married Pedro Pablo Saenz here at Point Reyes National Seashore. In 1898 her husband died suddenly while they were vacationing on Isla Mujeres; Juana then moved back to Pinole with their two young daughters where she continued running a small grocery store until her death in 1984 aged 92 years old!
