The history of optical accessories in Piedmont, California can be traced back to the early 1900s. At that time, the area was home to a number of small businesses that manufactured various types of Optical Devices and Components. Some of these businesses survive to this day and continue to produce quality optical products. One of the earliest companies in Piedmont was Interscan Optics, which was founded in 1904 by two brothers, Harry and George Interscan. The company manufactured a variety of optic products such as eyeglasses, telescopes, binoculars, microscope lenses, and other items. The Interscan Optics factory spans five floors and is still active today. In 1912, two brothers named Edwin and Clifford Hammond opened the first optical shop in Piedmont. The Hammond Optical Shop sold eye-care products such as spectacles and contact lenses; however, it is important to note that this shop did not produce any type of optical equipment itself. It instead leased space from other businesses in order to sell its products. Over the years, several other companies have followed suit with their own stores in Piedmont; however, none have achieved quite the same level of success as Interscan Optics did during its heyday. One reason for this may be due to the fact that at that time there were no mass-producedEyeglasses on the market – rather all sunglasses were hand-made by individual customers or family members (or even friends). This made it difficult for anyone else to come up with an identical product line as Interscan had done before them. By 1958, when Ingersco closed its doors for good after nearly sixty years in business,[1] there were only a handful of remaining independent opticians left in Piedmont.[2] However, over time many new opticians have sprung up all over Northern California because they understand how important it is for consumers to be able to find high-quality optics without havingto travel too far away or spend a lot of money on goods they cannot use themselves.

Piedmont, California was founded in 1851 by James Folsom. The community is located on the eastern edge of San Bernardino County and is bordered by Riverside County to the north, Mono County to the east, and Kern County to the south. Piedmont's population reached a high of over 100,000 during World War II. Today, Piedmont is a small town with a population of around 20,000. The first European settlers in what is now Piedmont were Frenchmen who arrived in 1769. They named their land Région du Midi (Region of the Mountains). Italian immigrants began arriving in large numbers beginning in 1847 and named their land Campo di Fiori (Field of Flowers). In 1853, General Antonio Folsom donated five acres of land at present-day Piedmont for educational purposes. On July 10th of that year, College Normal School was chartered as part of this donation making it one of America's first four colleges. The school operated until 1870 when it merged with University Of California at Berkeley which had been established two years earlier. In 1881, James Folsom erected a log cabin near present-day downtown Piedmont on his farm known as "Folsom House". This cabin served as the temporary home for many years until a more permanent structure could be built. In 1901, Folsom sold his farm to Waddell & Gibbs who renamed it "Folsom Park" after him and their father-in-law A[ndrea] F[olson]. The park has since been enlarged and includes much original acreage from Folsom's original holdings including several football fields which are still used today by both Piedmont High School and Cal Poly Pomona College’s men’s soccer team! In 1906 Waddell & Gibbs bought out A[ndrea] Folson's shareholding & continued to operate "Folsom Park". After Waddell & Gibbs' death in 1929 they left "Folsom Park" vacant for twenty years before finally donating it back to Piedmont City Council on November 14th 1947 under the name "Downtown Park". On September 3rd 1952 Commissioners Court approved an application from Trustee J[ohn] L.[aird] for an amendment authorizing Mayor Travolta to lease certain portions of Downtown Park from Trustee Baird for use as public open space subject to restrictions placed upon such use by city council ordinance or resolution pursuant to section 2(b) thereof . On October 6th 1952 Commissioner Court Approved Amendment No 1 To Downtown Park Lease Agreement between Trustee John L [aird] And Mayor Joseph Travolta
