Agriculture has been important in the town's history ever since; today, many farms produce crops such as hay, cotton, apples, grapes, almonds, oranges and other fruit trees.. The soil is fertile but not very well drained so irrigation is necessary for most agriculture; however there are also some acres where rainwater irrigates gardens or acreage used for grazing purposes
