Gun lights, or “light guns” as they are commonly referred to in California, have a long and proud history in Pico Rivera. The first gun lights were created by the citizens of Pico Rivera in 1892. At that time, there were no laws regulating the sale and possession of firearms, so local residents formed their own clubs and societies to protect themselves from criminals and theft. One of the earliest examples of these organizations was the Citizens' Rifle Club which met monthly at City Hall to shoot targets. In 1916, Mayor John A. Nichols called for a study on pistol permits and regulations for handgun owners in response to an increase in crime. After studying the matter, Mayor Nichols submitted a report recommending that gun lights be established throughout the city limits. This proposal was approved by the City Council and set into motion the process that would lead togunlights becoming common in Pico Rivera. The first gun light installation was made at 7th Street & Highway 506 shortly after Mayor Nichols' recommendation. The installation consisted of two small oil lamps placed facing each other on posts about 25 feet tall with 5-foot height intervals between them. These lamp installations served as warning signals to drivers when approaching or passing along highway 506 during nighttime hours; however, they were not effective at night due to darkness being too dense a barrier against traffic visibility. A second installation was made adjacent to First Baptist Church on 14th Street just south of Highway 506 in 1922; this installation featured six small oil lamps arranged in a double row around a post about 20 feet tall with 4-foot height intervals between them. These lamps provided general illumination within the churchyard while providing warning signals outside during daylight hours; however, they were not effective at night due to darkness being too thick an obstacle against traffic visibility. In 1929, Gun Lights Incorporated became operational under charter from Mayor Harry Minkman Jr.; this company manufactured both handguns and light guns for retail sales within city limits (though production ceased circa 1934). In 1936, Gun Lights began manufacturing revolvers exclusively for local law enforcement officers; this venture led eventually tothe establishment ofPico Rivera's first police department in 1938! During World War II (1939-1945), various government agencies requisitioned surplus firearm parts from various companies including Gun Lights Incorporated; these parts helped make possiblePicoRivera's prolific firearm production during wartime period! In 1951, Gun Lights merged with Citizen's Firearms Company Ltd., creating what would eventually become known as GOLGAS USA Incorporation! From its inception until its dissolution circa 1984 little has changed regardinggunlights popularity or usage within Pico Rivera – except perhaps for occasional tweaks/updates here and there!

They named their new town after José María Pico, one of their number who had fought for Mexican independence against Spanish rule. The early years of Pico Rivera were difficult as many of the settlers were poor and lacked any means to support themselves. However, over time, some of these people developed successful businesses and built homes that remain today. The city has seen a great deal of growth since it inception - thanks in part to its location within easy commuting distance both to downtown Los Angeles and other major cities in Southern California. Additionally, PicaRivera has become an important cultural center for the area with numerous nightlife and arts venues dotting its landscape. In recent years there have been efforts to improve access to education and health care services; however, much remainsto be done before PicoRivera can achieve widespread prosperity and success like those enjoyed by some other nearby urban communities such as Westwood or Beverly Hills
