In the early 1800s, Perris was a small community near the mouth of the Kern River. Gunsmiths and farmers ran stores and crafting workshops in the town. The first firearms were made from local oak logs. By 1853, there were more than 50 gunsmiths in Perris and over 1,000 guns being manufactured each year.
Perris, California is a small town located in Kern County, California. The population of Perris was 5,428 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Mojave Desert and has an elevation of 4,471 feet (1,524 m). The name "Perris" comes from two words; perry and pears. In 1853, Jameson Perry discovered gold in this area. By 1860, the community had a post office and six stores. In 1868 it had a school and three churches. The city was incorporated on December 1st 1870. The first mayor was John Smeaton who served for one year before being replaced by George Ahern. Most of the development took place after World War II when Perris became an important military base for the United States Air Force during World War II due to its location at "the crucial crossroads of Southern California." After the war ended, much of the economic activity shifted towards agriculture but some new businesses cropped up such as a bank and hardware store which remain in operation today. Today Perris is known for its vintage clothing industry which includes many clothing designers such as Topshop and Uniqlo as well as big name retailers like Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus which have their own historical branches still in operation today including Saks Fifth Avenue's flagship store which opened in 1922 inside what is now Macy's Department Store building on Market Street West within sight of Interstate 10

Perris, California is located in the San Joaquin Valley on the west coast of California. It is bordered by Stockton to the south and east, Bakersfield to the north, and Tulare County to the west. The population of Perris was 148,859 at the 2010 census. The first known inhabitants of what is now Perris were Native Americans who lived along the banks of a river that flowed through present-day Perris. They hunted game and collected water from springs near their settlements. When gold was discovered in 1848, many people moved to central California in search of new opportunities for wealth. A group of men led by James Wolkman established Wolkman City on a farm that they purchased from John Sutter in 1849. From here, they began developing what would become Perris. In 1861, Jens Christensen started an oil well on land he had bought from Juan Rodriguez de Almaden. By 1870, production at Christensen’s well had increased so much that he decided to build his own refinery onshore rather than sell oil direct to consumers. This led to a boom in industry in Perris during this time period; businesses such as food processors and soapmakers sprang up all around town. The city also benefited from military spending during World War II because it became one of several local communities used for assembly lines producing munitions produced by General Motors Corporation (GMC). After war ended, industry quickly declined as technological advances made more efficient methods available for manufacturing products such as plastics instead of crude oils or iron ore necessary for earlier times. However, due to its location near major cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco, peris retains some level of industrial activity today despite slow growth over recent decades One significant event which took place within downtown Perris during this time period was when Mayor John Pappagee’s Park Row House was destroyed by fire on November 15th 1906 while serving as Municipal Building #5A In response to this event Mayor Pappagee founded The Center For Civic Participation (C3P) which served as an early model for modern municipally run programs including community redevelopment agencies (CDAs) and parks & recreation programming today known as City Hall Park . One other important civic center during this time period was Stonington Catholic Church which opened its doors in 1911 just three blocks away from where Wolkman City later stood In addition both C3P and Stonington Catholic Church were homebaseesfor numerous cultural events throughout late 1906-early 1907 related To Andhra Pradesh Rebellion ). Additionally another notable building constructed during this era which still stands today is First United Methodist Episcopal church located at 7th Street & State Route 158
The early history of Perris, California is obscure. However, it is known that the area was first settled by Native Americans in the late 18th century. In the 1970s and 1980s,Perris experienced rapid growth as a bedroom community for Riverside County. Today,Perris has a population of over 50 thousand people and is one of Riverside County's most important economic engines.
