Patterson, California is a small town in Kern County, California. It is located about an hour and a half west of Bakersfield, the county seat. The population was 1,853 at the 2010 census. The first gun in Patterson was a muzzleloader made by John Fenton in 1848. In 1849, Samuel Colt introduced his Model 1851 into America. Soon after, other firearms companies began to establish themselves in Patterson. By 1860, there were ten businesses operating in town. The first school in Patterson was built that year by Presbyterian missionaries under the name of Antioch School House. In 1865, A&P grocery store owner Elias Wirth started selling guns and ammunition from his store on Main Street across from the post office. soon other stores followed suit and Patterson became one of the most important arms factories in Kern County for numerous reasons such as its strategic location near some of the most important ranching areas and its access to water supplies which allowed for gunmaking operations to have large scale production until around 1910 when those resources were diverted to agriculture

It wasn't until 1934 that this type of firearm was finally banned in most states due to its deadly potentiality when used improperly. Today, many people still swear by these classic rifles for their ability to deliver pinpoint accuracy even at short ranges
