Gun Grips History in Pasadena, California began with the first handguns that were made in Pasadena, California. The first handguns were made by Citizens Arms Company and they were called the “Pasadena” series. These pistols were very similar to the revolvers that we use today. They had a single stack magazine and they fired 6 rounds per clip. In addition, these pistols used a type of grip known as a “bimetallic grip” which was designed to help protect against recoil. This grip consisted of two pieces of metal that met together at the back of the hand. This helped provide more stability for the gun and it also gave the user more control over it. Over time, other companies started making handguns in Pasadena and eventually, guns became quite popular here. Some of these companies include: Glocks Corporation, Smith & Wesson Corporation, Colt Firearms Corporation, and SIG Sauer AG. Each company produced their own line of firearms and each one had its own unique style and design. In 1911, Pasadena City Council enacted an ordinance which restricted the carrying of handguns in the city. The ordinance was repealed in 1912.

In 1847, Pasadena was founded as a small RanchoPadre Mexican land grant by José María del Valle and his wife, Juana de la Cruz. The area now known as Pasadena was part of the Rancho San Gabriel granted to Juan Bautista Alvarado in 1776. Pasadena's first inhabitants were Native American Mission Indians who traveled to the area for fishing and hunting. Over time, Spanish settlers arrived, primarily from Mexico City. In 1821, Captain Antonio Valle purchased 2,521 acres of land east of downtown Los Angeles from José Sepulveda. In 1828, Governor Manuel Nieto appointed Captain Fernando de la Torre administrator of all California missions. La Torre developed a ranchosentido (divisional system) for the mission Indians in east Pasadena which included parts of what is now Beverly Hills and Midway Hills.. On February 14, 1854, President Jose Joaquin Balboa signed Senado Resolution 957 creating the Regional District of Los Angeles County with headquarters at Westminster Hall in downtown Los Angeles. On May 5th same year Pacheco applied for chapter status with the new county corporation and on July 15th he received charter number 5 from Gov Manuel Nieto. The first meeting of the Board of Supervisors took place on August 11th under auspices of Mayor Proctor at Yeoman’s Opera House across from Prospect Park where today’s High School complex is located. The first official act by any body within this newly created jurisdiction occurred when Judge John Fenton certified that Rancher Cosme Damrosch had paid $1 per acre for 640 acres within our limits since January 1st one thousand nine hundred fifty-four! A petition to annex eastern Pasadena to Santa Monica was filed on October 25th but no action taken until December 12th when Supervisor John Pemberton recommended annexation because it would be “an essential part orterminus of real estate development extending into Long Beach proper which could not be adequately served without its incorporation into our city”.). The original plat map dated November 20th 1850 shows 6 blocks north/south + east/west block line: North side is bounded by Washington Street (now Broadway), Virginia Avenue (now Martin Luther King Jr.) & Highland Avenue; East side is bounded by Sawtelle Boulevard (now State Route 91), Western Avenue (now Glendale Boulevard), Oak Lawn Avenue and Southwestern Boulevard; DowntownLosAngeles consisted then only of two blocks: Founder's Row between Spring Street and Figueroa Street and Temple Place between Second Street & Third Street
