It was not long before Parlier became known as “the little oasis on the banks of the Rogue River” because of its proximity to this important waterway. The years following World War II were tough for California; however, Parlier continuedto grow despite difficult times. By 1949, the town had reached 1,500 residents and was home to several businesses such as butcher shops, grocery stores, barbershops/beauty parlors/, dry goods stores etc.). The population continued growth until 2000 when they hit 2,,000 residents! At present dayParlier is still growing rapidly with new housing developments being built all along its main street called Main Street Mall which houses over 60 businesses including restaurants*, hair salons*, convenience stores* etc.).
