The community was founded in 1876 by George and Emma Michelin. In 1907, the Post Office called Parlier "Pelley", after Colonel John Pelley of the 4th Infantry Regiment who had served with distinction during the Mexican-American War. The Parlier School District No. 2 has a student body of 997 students in grades PreK-12th and it offers 11 courses for general education including math, reading/literature/history, science, technology/engineering (STEM), arts and crafts, health/fitness/wellness, business administration/management & finance*, criminal justice & law enforcement* as well as Prep-6th grade Chinese immersion program*. The history of Parlier goes back to 1876 when George Michelin and his wife Emma decided to move from their home in Dixon to establish a new community on land they owned east of where Dixon now stands. The first post office operated at Pelley for one year until July 1st 1907 when it changed its name to Parlier after Col. John Pelley (4 th Infantry Regiment). In 1951, Mr. Tom Puskar opened up his grocery store on Main Street which became known as "the mecca" for farmers markets all over Northern California because of its great selection of fresh produce products from around the world sourced directly from local growers! A new elementary school was built in 2006 adjacent to the high school which has since become known as "Parlier High". A fire destroyed that building in 2009 but PARLIER Elementary continues to serve students from prekindergarten through 8th grade along with special needs programs such as Head Start and 504Learning Center which provides support for students with language delays or other disabilities† which are not adequately handled by other schools within their district†

Parlier is a small town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 1,686 at the 2010 census. It is located on the east side of the Kern River just north of Bakersfield. The first settlers in Parlier were an Italian-American family who arrived from Milan in 1853. They founded a small agricultural community called San Domenico on the west bank of the river and named it after their patron saint, Dominic. In 1871, Parlier's post office was moved to nearby Porterville and its name changed to Parlier Station. The railroad reached Parlier in 1895 and soon there were two hotels and several businesses catering to travelers coming up the Kern River Valley. By 1902, parlor shops had opened up around the town center to serve visitors with refreshments while they toured some of its strategic points such as Mission Peak (then 3,000 feet high) and Donner Lake (15 miles long). In 1925, when Interstate 5 was built through Kern County and right along the riverbank linking Bakersfield with Los Angeles proper, business began to decline along with travel within that county; however, it has continued to grow since then as people have become more interested in living near nature rather than going far away for work or pleasure purposes. In recent years there has been a renewed interest in history here due to both local events like those celebrating National History Day each year or special programs offered by various organizations throughout the year honoring important figures from local history or Californian history including visits by members of Congress or state governors during congressional recesses hereabouts such as during 2017's visit by U.S Rep Jackie Speier which also included an appearance at one of my students' homeschooling extravaganzas! There are also many exhibits about American Indian culture open seasonally as well as German Village which features period farm buildings dating back over 100 years! What makes this place truly unique is that not only does it have all these things but it still feels like a small town where everyone knows their neighbors!
