Paramount, California is a city in Los Angeles County, California. The population was 781,569 at the 2010 census. It is located on the east coast of Los Angeles and is bordered by Santa Monica to the north and Westwood to the east. It also has a small section of Ventura County to the south. Paramount began as a farming community called Northridge Center in 1887. In 1902, it became an incorporated town with a population of 2,500 people. The name changed again in 1932 to Paramount because of its location on Paramount Boulevard (then known as Imperial Avenue). In 1984, Paramount became home to Hollywood's first "smart" gun- confiscation operation when police used tasers against several movie stars who had been caught with handguns under their robes during private events at their homes. This was one of many such operations that took place throughout Southern California in response to rapid proliferation of smart guns and gun violence which had increased markedly since 1982 when Reaganomics led to dramatic cuts in funding for law enforcement agencies across much of America

Universal produced a series of successful horror movies that began in 1928 called Frankenweenie and continued through 1934 titled monsters from Outer Space. In 1933–35, Universal produced two successful musicals: Broadway Melody (1933) andOklahoma! (1935). These two productions led to further merger between Sony and Universal which created MGM Studios Incorporated on November 16th 1932. On May 6th 1934 both companies were combined into one corporation known as Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer which would continue production until Mayer's death on December 15th 2006

In 1990s Paramount experienced a renaissance with several projects spearheaded by Mayor James Garvey such as a new library and movie theater complex and revitalization of downtown streetscape which included new storefronts and streetlights. The late mayor's successor Antonio Villaraigosa increased spending on infrastructure projects including arterial road widening and reopening of General Grant Boulevard which had been closed for years due to unsightly potholes. This revived downtown business district while also improving public transportation options nearby with construction of a new light rail line that connected downtown with Hollywood Hills
