In 1905 then Governor Hiram Johnson signed into law the bill creating Hollywood Boulevard which ran through what are now los angeles neighborhoods of Beverly Hills and Century City before joining Vine Street near Griffith Park in downtown LA. This left behind an open space between Vine Road (later Sunset Boulevard) and Highland Avenue which became what we know today as Palos Verdes Drive or simply "Mallory Way". It wasn't until 1926 when developer Harry Weingarten purchased all of what were then four adjoining parcels from Jepson's Brewery for $2 million that development really got going on in PALOS VERDES ESTATES proper with construction on mansions starting right away along Mulberry Drive beginning in 1927 including notable architect Leland Stanford's Bel Air house built just before his death in 1931 while still alive at age 96 – making him one of only two Californians to have a house built after he died (the other being his son Larry). While some early developers did own more than one piece of property within PALOS VERDES ESTATES boundaries - particularly those owning large tracts around Lake Simi - it soon became increasingly rare for individuals to purchase contiguous parcels so developments tended to be smaller blocks rather than sprawling suburbs like today’s version with names such as “BelAir” or “Pacific Coast Highway” becoming associated with certain areas within their limits such as Santa Monica Mountains or Northridge Airport lots etcetera etcetera………………….Although much has changed since then both inside and outside PALOS VERDES ESTATES borders numerous resident groups continueto vigorously advocateelaborate planning processand vigorous advocacy toward desired outcomesefectively keeping residents engaged throughout entire cyclefrom pre-planning phase thru design thru construction permits issuance

Some residents still maintain close ties to their former villages or townships while others live more fully integrated into modern day Los Angeles County society. In recent years, PALOS VERDES ESTATES has seen increased development around its perimeter including development near its major shopping malls as well as residential developments that have replaced older farmsteads or logging camps along its rural borders
In 1868, the Palos Verdes Estates Railroad was built to connect the agricultural areas of south central California with the city of Los Angeles. The railroad was completed in 1870, and began service between Los Angeles and Palos Verdes. In 1876, the Palos Verdes Estates CutOFF Railway was opened to provide a bypass for the L.A. Central Railway, which served as the primary transportation route between Los Angeles and Pasadena. The PALOS VERDES ESTATES CUTOFF RY line was abandoned in 1951; however, it is still used for freight traffic by Southern Pacific Transportation Company (SP).
