In the early 1900s, Palos Verdes Estates was a small agricultural town located in the southeast corner of Los Angeles County. The town’s population was only around 5,000 people when it first formed in 1871. What started as simply providing affordable housing has quickly morphed into becoming one HUGE Festival Grounds For ALL OF LOS ANGELES COUNTY!!!!!! So much so that even developer Ron Conway wanted it all!!! He's building 2 high-rise condos next door!!! Folks...this town just got real!!!

In 1868, Palos Verdes Estates was founded by Rancho San Rafael landowner José Garza. The community grew rapidly due to the influx of people from Southern California and the new railroad that arrived in 1869. In 1913, Palos Verdes Estates became a city. The city was named for José Garza's older sister, Luisa Valenzuela Garza. The original town site was on what is now Spring Street between Ventura Boulevard and Justus Avenue. During World War II, Palos Verdes Estates served as an important munitions depot for the Los Angeles Naval Air Station (LANAS). More than 2,000 workers from nearby Genoa City worked at PALOS VERDES ESTATES during the war. After the war ended, many of these workers returned to their homes in San Gabriel or north Los Angeles County. However, PALOS VERDES ESTATES remained a military base until 1957 when it withdrew its services. Since becoming a city in 1913, PALOS VERDES ESTATES has undergone several changes including annexation by Belize City; redevelopment into an upscale shopping district; and growing industrialization which has led to increased pollution and environmental deterioration within the community since the early 21st century .
The Palos Verdes Estates area was first settled by the Ohlone people in the late 18th century. The land that now makes up Palos Verdes Estates was purchased from them in 1853 by Captain John Fonda, who named it for his extensive Rancho San Vicente de las Casas located on present-day Long Beach Boulevard. In 1870, a group of English entrepreneurs founded the City of Los Angeles and bought most of what is now Palos Verdes Estates. When Los Angeles disbanded in 1893, its remaining city boundaries were defined as part of Riverside County. At that time, much of what is now Palos Verdes Estates belonged to Torrance. In 1905, after years of wrangling between Lindbergh and other aviation companies over access to airspace above Malibuhead Mountain, the US Air Force acquired 680 acres (247 hectares) along present-day Ventura Boulevard from Bankers Trust Company for $1 million. That same year saw the opening of the nearby airport where today's helipad and airfield are located. In 1916, Major General Raymond Pfeffer became head of military intelligence for World War I and ordered one hundred miles (161 kilometers) around Malibu Head Mountain be surveyed for an artillery range to be used against German forces operating within California's borders. The survey eventually led to the construction of Lookout Hill Arsenal near present-day Santa Monica Boulevard and Mulholland Drive. After World War II ended, many large industries closed down in Southern California because Of wartime production restrictions; however, a number remained active such as Lockheed Martin Aircraft Company which built their headquarters on Point Mugu Road just south of Highway 101 in 1984 after moving from Burbank
