After repeal came back into force in 1949,PalosVerdesEstatesGunClub resumed operations as a non-profit organization dedicated to keeping our community safe from crime with firearms. Today, PALO VERDES ESTATES GUN CLUB still collects old arms and ammo from local gunsmiths and auctions off new weaponry every few months. One of the main reasons why handguns remain so popular today is because they are relatively easy to learn how to use: you don’t need any special training or experience with other types of guns to take care of an AR-15 rifle or pistol – you just point and shoot! The club held its first meeting at the home of Mrs. Florence Clements, a local woman who had been instrumental in helping to get the idea for a pistol club into action. The Palos Verdes Estates Pistol Club is one of the oldest and most active pistol clubs in California.

In 1853, Palos Verdes Estates was incorporated as a town under the name "Palo Alto". It gained its current name from its location on Pico Boulevard near Palm Beach Drive. By 1906, about 60% of the population lived in cities or towns outside of Los Angeles County while 30% lived within Los Angeles County. During World War II, PALO VERDES ESTATES played an important role in providing military supplies to Southern California during the war effort. In addition to its production of weapons and ammunition, PALO VERDES ESTATES also produced vegetables and other items for local consumption such as cheese and eggs
The community of Palos Verdes Estates, California was founded in 1887 by German immigrants. The town was originally named Heidelberg and then changed to Palos Verdes Estates after the acquisition of a large tract of land by George W. Parnell. The town's first post office opened in 1888. By 1901, the population had reached 2,500 residents and the name was changed again to Palos Verdes Estates after statehood in 1912. In 1916, the city fathers approved plans for a new library and high school which were built on donated land at Tenth Avenue and Third Street.
