In the early 1900s, a team of engineers working for Winchester Firearms Company developed a new type of rifle ammunition that uses special flashlights to ignite the powder in the cartridge. This new ammunition was called “Winchester Special” and it became very popular with hunters and target shooters. The first version of this ammunition was used on shotguns which were then reloaded with it. The success of this ammo led to the development of handguns using this type of ammunition as well. In 1922, Winchester introduced their first handgun using this type of ammo, called the .30-06 Springfield. This caliber became very popular and eventually replaced all other firearms in use by law enforcement agencies across America. The popularity of handguns made them ideal for self-defense purposes and they also became very popular among professional shooters. As time went on, different companies developed their own versions of these pistols using different types of rounds and munitions. However, until recently, all modern mass market handgun cartridges have been fired with Winchester Special Ammunition!

Palo Alto, California is a city in Alameda County, California, United States. The population of Palo Alto was 54,681 as of the 2010 census. It is located on the southern edge of San Francisco Bay and has a population density of . The city's name comes from Spanish for "trees by the bay". The first Europeans to visit the Bay Area were José de Vallejo and Gaspar de Portolà in 1769 and1770 respectively. A mission built by Father Junípero Serra in 1821 served as the presidio and town center until 1853 when it became part of Mexico City. In 1868, after American troops burned down many Mexican villages near Monterey during their occupation of California, Governor Manuel Miranda moved the capital from Mexico City to Alameda County because he felt that San Francisco was becoming too expensive to maintain. The Townsite Act of 1876 designated land east of Amherst Road (now University Avenue) as Palo Alto while west of Amherst Road (now Menlo Park Boulevard) as Tomerfitown. As early as 1881, Stanford University had set up an agricultural experiment station at Redwood Valley. This area now includes much older Palo Alto than what is now known about it today. Upon Silicon Valley's incorporation into Santa Clara County in 1889, most residents continued to live along El Camino Real north of South Street while portions south or east of South Street formed Channing Township which went through until 1915 when it merged with neighboring Livermore Township forming Palo Alto proper which lasted until 1965 when that township merged with East Palo Alto to form current-day Palo Alto. In 1906 Alice Latham proposed building a school between Ashland Avenue and Chambers Road but no one came forward to build it; she then built it herself using money she raised from selling lemonade outside her store). In 1911–12 new streets were paved: North Campus Drive (later renamed Embarcadero Drive), West Campus Drive (later renamed Marine Drive), Vice Presidential Lane (later named Roberts Way), Amphitheater Parkway (later renamed Hearn Way), Library Boulevard (later renamed Macdonald Avenue), Clarendon Avenue and finally Canyonview Boulevard which ran parallel to Hearn Way between McClintock Road and Coyote Creek before turning northeastward at West Hillsborough Avenue past Oakhurst Cemetery into Clarendon avenue whereupon terminating near Google's former satellite campus). On October 15th 1908 architect John Waddell Higginbotham designed for Raymond Horton & Sons his first commercial building at 625 Bryant St., later called "Palo Alto General Store" occupied by Mr Horton from 1912 until his death in 1956; this building still stands today corner 6th Ave./Bryant St." Just south/west off Higginbotham's original building at 625 Bryant St., another major milestone happened on November 8th 1912 when singer Cole Porter rented space inside the old Don Helms Brewery on Market Square for his December 1913 recordings therewith beginning what would become known as 'Palo Alto Records'. Today an extensive replica thereof can be found inside Googleplex across from Paley Center stage.) In 1916 Callie Price married Ernest Jones who ran Apple Inc.'s hardware store branch in nearby Menlo Park; they would have two children: Christopher Price () and Marcia Price (). After World War II most Palato Altos jobs relocated away due to mildew concerns caused by proximity to Silicon Valley's nuclear weapons testing site - Playfair Hill - however some remained such as Byte Shop founder Bob Kahn who began operations out back on 16th Ave SW & Katella Dr.; Kahn remains CEO emeritus today. Many people also retired here like engineer Jack Hughes whose company developed video game controllers called Hughes Electronics; or Wally Yeager who founded Alltel Wireless Corporation serving rural customers across Northern California before retiring in 2005 just prior to its merger into Verizon Wireless!). Other notable residents include computer scientist Donald Knuth (); author Douglas Adams (); entrepreneur Elon Musk (); stand-up comedian Zach Galifianakis (); business executive Bob Woodward (); poet Ezra Pound (); architects Robert Venturi (), David Rockwell (), Gordon Bunche () As recently as 2000, only 26% percentof Palato Altos residents identified themselves exclusively within one specific race or ethnicity – compared with 80% among all Oakland county residents statewide

Palo Alto is a small city in Northern California that was founded by the brothers Isaac and Jacob Stanford. The town was originally named Depot Hill after a nearby depot, but it became known as Palo Alto because of its central location on the Palo Alto Peninsula. The Panic of 1893 led to a decrease in population, which allowed for the construction of new schools, churches and other important infrastructure. In 1922, Palo Alto incorporated as a city and has since grown rapidly into one of the most influential towns in Northern California. The history of Palo Alto began with some humble beginnings. In 1853, John Thornton established what would become known as Thornton School, which served students from Horseback Valley until 1871. In 1865, Richard Wigglesworth moved to Palo Alto and opened a general store and post office at Ninth Street and University Avenue. Wigglesworth was an early supporter of education reform and played an instrumental role in helping to establish the first public school in Palo Alto. He also donated land for what would become Stanford University (now Stanford Campus). In 1887, Amos Eaton purchased land at First Avenue/Ninth Street and Second Street for $1 million dollars. Eaton funded many important renovation projects at his new estate including building several large homes plus a number of smaller ones that still stand today. His donation helped build one of Northern California's most prestigious universities –Stanford –and helped lay the groundwork for future technological giants such as Apple Inc., Facebook Inc., Googleplex Inc., Intel Corp., Microsoft Corp., Samsung Electronics Co., Oracle Corp., Qualcomm Incorporated (QCOM) and more. Eaton's contributions have been commemorated with an annualaton called "Amos Eaton Day" in honor of him throughout Santa Clara County. Today, Palo Alto is home to some world-renowned institutions such as Stanford University (the largest university east of Los Angeles), Hewlett-Packard Labs,[2] NASA Ames Research Center[3] Adobe Systems,[4] UC Berkeley Haas School Of Business,[5] Facebook[6], Twitter[7],[8],[9],[10], LinkedIn[11],[12],[13]] amongst others! Its economy ranges from technology startups to large corporations such as Salesforce.[14][15][16] It is also well known for its strict zoning laws which keep much valuable real estate affordable for all residents; this contributes significantly to its diversity and vibrancy despite being quite small town-like mentality
