Gun targets have been a part of Palo Alto, California's history for many years. The first target was erected in 1868 by Hiram Maxim, the founder of Maxim’s Gun Works. It was located at what is now Sixth and Parker Streets. The location, as well as the design of the target, were influenced by the then-recent importation of firearms into the United States from Europe. In 1901, General John J. Pershing placed a gunnery school in downtown Palo Alto on Market Street. It was there that students began to learn how to shoot pistols and rifles. In 1906, a new target building was erected on University Avenue near North lot No. 9A between Masonic Temple and Santa Clara University campuses. This building served as the site for many more gun exhibitions and rifle matches until it burned down in 1951. The current Target Building on First Street between Yamhill and Menlo Avenues opened in 1945 and has been used by PALO ALTO Rifle Association (PALO) since its establishment in 1951. On October 15th each year, PALO ALTO Rifle Association holds its annual meeting at this venue to elect officers/trustees and review club program/ progress reports etcetera
There are many types of targets that can be used in target shooting. There are rifle targets, shotgun targets, pistol targets, and even gun targets. Rifle targets can be made from paper or plastic. Shotguns and pistols can both be shot at with rounds from a variety of firearms, such as shotguns or handguns. Rifle target manufacturers typically make three varieties: small-bore (2 3/4 inches or less), medium-bore (3 inches or greater), and large-bore (5 inches or greater). Pistol target manufacturers typically make two types: centerfire (.45 ACP) and AA striker-fired weapons. In 1856, a company of US Marines landed at Palo Alto Bay on Santa Cruz Island. U.S. Lt. Col. John Dominguez organized and led the marines in an amphibious assault against the Mexican forces defending the bay, inflicting heavy casualties on them before withdrawing to their ships. The Marines were soon followed by American soldiers under Lt. Colonel George Armstrong Custer who fought their way through Mexican defences and captured Mexico's only Confederate fort at Cerro Gordo Heights on 10 January 1857

The steel case allows you to fire more rounds without having problems with ringing or flaring . You can also find these round in spares if you need them Hard Steel Rounds: These rounds are made out OF MACHINED STEEL which gives them some heft - giving you better control over your aim while firing
The first gun targets were created by Lewis and Clark during their expedition in 1805. The guns they designed fired shot that could travel up to eighty feet.
Palo Alto, California is a city in Santa Clara County, California. The population was 54,402 at the 2010 census. It is the largest city on Silicon Valley and has been home to various computer companies and research institutions such as Xerox PARC and Intel Xeon Labs. Palo Alto was founded by American entrepreneur George Church in 1884 as a small farming community named Hillsboro. In 1906, he established an electric power company there and renamed it Pacific Electric Company. The original Palo Alto campus of Stanford University was located in what is now North Park neighborhood of Palo Alto.
The first Europeans to visit Palo Alto were the Spanish in 1769, who built a small fort on the hill now known as Mount Sutro. The next year, British Captain John Eddy arrived with his squadron of ships and landed at Tiburon Bay to explore the Strait of Juan de Fuca. He named the bluff "Palo Alto" after his home town of Palo Alto, England. In 1868, Stanford University was founded by Alexander Graham Bell and others in what is now downtown Palo Alto. One of the first things done by its founders was to name a street in honor of their friend and predecessor, Sir George Stephenson. In 1884, Stanford became an independent college and added a library to its holdings. During World War II, Palo Alto played an important role as one of America's largest military bases. It housed more than 15000 soldiers and civilians during the war years alone. Today many buildings from this time are still standing including those used by US Army Headquarters and US Navy Yard before they relocated to San Francisco in 1951.
