That same year, PAN also made history when it became one of the first stations in Northern California to carry live BBC World Service programming! cavett served as morning drive host while Donahue led afternoon hours with his signature talkshow “Dick Cavetto” (later renamed "Phil Donahue Reports"). In 1978 both men were inducted into the Bay Citizen’s Hall of Fame for their work at PAN/. Additionally, Pan received national attention during its first season when ABC-TV broadcast an entire week’s worth of programming from our studios without ever havingto leave our building due to weather conditions! In early 1979 both Dick Cavetti/Phil Donahue had what has come to be called "the golden years" at PAN...he led all day long each day with his popular talk show “Dick Cavetto” while I personally filled in for him late night shifts..Our listenership soared past 2 million watts each weekdaynight thanks largely to feedback we gathered during our many public hearings throughout ourSan Francisco community ..Many people credit my efforts at PAN with helping make Proposition 209 happen back then !!
