Bullets have been an important part of the Pacifica community since the 1800s. One of the earliest known bullets was shot from a cannon on Fort Point in 1833. Bullet history in Pacifica began with Winchester Bullets, which were first produced in 1892. In 1907, a company called Gold Medal Ammunition manufactured rounds for the military out of local blacksmith shops. The ammunition industry changed drastically during World War II when bullet prices quadrupled due to wartime demand. However, bullet production continued until 1966 when it was stopped due to federal government regulations limiting ammunition sales. Pacifica is a city in San Francisco County, California, United States. The population was 757 at the 2010 census. It is located on the eastern edge of downtown San Francisco and can be reached by BART (the Bay Area Rapid Transit system) or Muni Metro trains from nearby Civic Center Station. Pacifica has been called "the heart of the city" because it is located near several of the most important business and cultural districts in San Francisco. The name "Pacifica" means "island inlets" in Hawaiian, and was given to the community by its founders as a way to distance themselves from neighboring Marina del Rey. The original town site was within what is now Golden Gate Park. In 1887, two brothers named George Hirt and Nathan Hale bought 6 acres (2 ha) east of Market Street for $1,000 from John Cranch. They renamed their new settlement Hirtville after their father-in-law, General Samual Pierce Hirt who had served as superintendent of public instruction for California under Governor John Sutter during the Gold Rush period. On December 12, 1887, Pacifica's first post office opened with five mailbags sent out by local residents Arthur Mudd and Jedediah Smith on horseback through Yerba Buena Cove to Haight-Ashbury district north of Market Street; this service ended when train service began on May 15th 1886 between Market and Franklin Streets.[1] In 1896 Pacifica voters passed an ordinance establishing school yeardays as Wednesdays instead of Fridays so that children could get enough rest or day care during weekdays[2]. In 1907 an addition to town square were built two churches—Stetson University Church which became Holy Cross Catholic parish church in 1912[3] and Angelus Roman Catholic convent which became Our Lady Help Of Christians convent in 1926[4][5][6]. The Interurban Railway Company (IRT) built a freight station on Geary Boulevard southwest of town square in 1911,[7] but it closed down in 1965 due to low ridership rates associated with World War II shortages of agricultural products brought about by Bombing raids over Europe ravaging that area.[8] In 1922 Pacifcia organized its own fire department which became one of ten departments statewide established pursuant to state law No. 191 (27 Cal). The Department's first officer was Wm Fenton who served until his death June 3rd 1923 [9][10]. In 1928 City Council adopted Resolution establishingparameters for election campaign financing including contribution limits per individual $25 per month plus treasurer’s fee up to $350 per person unlimited total contributions no more than 4% personal income or 2% net worth each any 2 years consecutively

Pacifica was founded by Japanese Americans in 1928 as an agricultural community on the east side of Jack London Square in downtown San Francisco. The original name for the community was Kamehameha Nui (meaning "Place of Peace"). In 1942, after Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor, local officials renamed the town Pacifica in honor of Admiral Chester Nimitz and his fleet. The first post office opened in Pacifica on December 12, 1926. It was moved to its current location at 8th Street and Market Place in 1936. The original ZIP code for Pacifica was 94107. In 1949, it became part of the newly formed San Mateo County and had its own sheriff and jail system until 1965 when that responsibility transferred to county taxpayers. In 2000, the town passed a resolution expressing support for Measure B which would have bans same-sex marriage in all counties within Santa Clara County except Monterey; however, this measure failed to pass.[1][2] In 2008 Proposition 8 overturned California's Proposition 22 ban on gay marriage statewide,[3] making Pacifica one of just two places - along with Provincetown – where same-sex marriage is legal despite laws against it elsewhere in California. On October 15th 2017 by popular vote 64% of residents supported amending their city charter to prohibit discrimination against any individual based upon sexual orientation or gender identity regardless of age or race/ethnicity.[4]
Pacifica was founded in 1969 as a cooperative of progressive farmers and ranchers. The organization promoted environmental justice, social justice, and worker rights. Pacifica also advocated for the placement of community members as advisors to state government on issues affecting their neighborhoods. In 1990, the group merged with the more radical Progressive Change Campaign Committee (PCCC).
