The following year Congress passed legislation creating local government with power to levy taxes and spend money on public goods such as education, parks, health care and infrastructure development In 1870s Pacific Grove started growing rapidly due to booming lumber sales from its redwoods trees This caused many houses to be built without any regard for fire safety or earthquake hazards One such house still stands today - it is #574 Masonic Lodge Rd., which overlooks Alcatraz Island National Monument

A group of British businessmen decided to start an agricultural colony in San Francisco Bay Area because they felt it would be more difficult for European farmers to grow crops than nearby areas such as New Mexico or Oregon due to strong winds andextreme temperatures endured by those regions during summer months. On July 4th, 1853, four American whaling vessels anchored off shore at Santa Cruz Harbor waiting for supplies brought overland by boatloads from Japan including rice, flour and other food items needed for building ships that would sail back home loaded with whale meat that winter." However annexation did occur ten years later when Los Angeles became part ofthe United States.. During World War II both Japanese nationals livingin Southern CA Beach towns like Torrance & Redondo Beach went into hidingduring Pearl Harbor while Japanese nationals living northward( primarily within our city limits) took up arms against America.. As result many people associated with beach communities like Torrance & Redondo Beach lost their homes .. however most residents returned home once war ended and hostilities stopped
Pacific Grove is located in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. The city was founded by the Spanish in 1769 and named for Juan Pablo Monterey, who had died in 1768. It became a US town on December 12, 1879. The first post office opened in Pacific Grove on February 15, 1881. Pacific Grove became a state town on January 14, 1948.
