The couple renamed it Zinfandel Hills Vineyards and began producing Zinfandel wines under contract with several other wineries around the world. In 1998 they sold their portion of the company to brothers Rick & Bruce Stiegler who continued production until 2006 when Rick passed away suddenly at age 73 from a heart attack while he was out tasting new wines in Sonoma Valley

In 1896, local businessman James Hickey bought about 7 acres (2 ha) at the mouth of Harbor Boulevard for $5 per acre (0.24 ha). He named it "Hickey's Harbor" after himself and his brother-in-law John Hickey. The harbor was later developed into a commercial center with wharves, warehouses and a pier that served as both an access point for ocean shipping and a transportation hub for goods going eastward to points such as New York City and San Francisco Bay. This development helped make Oxnard one of the most important ports on Long Beach Island during its heyday in the late 19th century.

On July 1, 1957, the city of Oxnard merged with the neighboring communities of Camarillo and El Cajon to form the current metropolitan area known as Ventura County.
