One of the most notable firearm security incidents in California took place on December 14, 2017 when a gunman killed five people at a rural town in Oxnard County. Gunman Syed Farook had arrived at that school shortly before 12pm local time with a rifle and slaughtered six people before being shot dead by police officers; three of which were from within close range of Farook himself.

In 1948–49 local real estate developer Harry Chandler erected what are now two iconic structures in downtown Oxnard – Chandler's Bank Building (now part of the Community Bank) which standsidon Wharf according to plans by architect Edward Jablonski; while also building Cox Enterprises Inc.'s executive offices adjacent across First Street south of Griggs Avenue just east of Interstate 5 before they vacated them more than ten years later when their new facility opened behind them on Main Street west of I5 where they still operate today (although some portions have been leased back out to other businesses). A significant portion of the town's history can be found buried beneath soft sand dunes bordering Torrance Harbor that form much of Newport Beach – including three partial remains dating back over 4500 years: two prehistoric stone tools made into spears about 35 feet long each discovered along with other artifacts during construction work associated with creating Highway 101 offshore oil rigs offshore off Seal Beach Boulevard approximately five miles southwest of downtown exclusively for this project which unearthed human remainsbaugh bones measuring about 7 inches tallUTIHVY which date back at least 9000 years deep!

Oxnard, California is a city in Ventura County, California, United States. The population was 83,829 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Pacific Coast and has been a port of call for ships bringing goods to and from Asia since 1868. The town was founded by Captain James Cook in 1797 as part of his exploration of the South Seas. Oxnard was named after Sir George Oxenford, 2nd Baronet (1757-1827). The first post office in Oxnard opened on December 12, 1868. The town's first mayor was H. G. Wells with Wm J. Palmer serving as treasurer from 1870 to 1874 and again from 1880 to 1888. In 1907 it became an incorporated city under the name of Ventura County. In 1951 voters passed a proposition to make Oxnard an unincorporated community once again within Ventura County limits; this proposal failed when Measure B (an increase in sales taxes) was approved by the county Board of Supervisors that same year. However, Measure A (a measure increasing property tax rates) passed unanimously on November 3rd of that year and went into effect immediately upon passage – thus making Oxnard an officially incorporated city once again as well as a member of the City Councilmember Districts 1 through 5 which includes most of downtown including its shopping center and most significant public buildings such as City Hall and State Capitol complex). There have been several attempts over time to reincorporate Oxnard back inside Ventura County but all have met with mixed success due largely to disagreements about who should be responsible for governance within the newly formed city boundaries – namely between Mayor Olson's mayoral appointees currently appointed by City Councilmembers D1-D5 plus various business/property owners/ Developers interested in being able to reap benefits associated with being an "incorporated" municipality rather than just a “unincorporated” one Today there are many businesses clustered around Plaza de Toros shopping center near Interstate 405 eastbound on Main Street south side which is home to both Save-A-Lot Grocery Store( anchor store since 1984), Menard's Hardware(since 1978), Fitness First!(since 2001), Starbucks Coffee & Tea[renowned location], Reggae Shack[renowned locations] among others providing access directly onto I405 freeway making it easily accessible for truck drivers coming into or leaving Southern California also major highways like Interstates 880 and 101 nearby making commuting easy
In 1871, Oxnard was incorporated as a town. In 1909, the town became an unincorporated community.
