This money went towards purchasing new firearm regulations and training programs for law enforcement officers. Orinda, California is a city located in Contra Costa County, California. The population was 77,815 at the 2010 census. It is the most populous city in the county and has been growing rapidly since 2000. Orinda experiences an average annual rainfall rate of 82 in (2,500 mm). Most rain falls during winter months when snow cover lasts into late fall or early winter; however occasional totals exceeding 100 in (30 mm) occur during summer months when high pressure systems blow through from the Bay Area further inland creating weather patterns similar to those seen in Northern California during this time period known as "the wet season".wxw

Orinda is a city in Contra Costa County, California, United States. It was founded by Nathaniel Hawthorne in 1852 as part of the Antioch Township subdivision. Orinda became an incorporated city on January 1, 1911. The population was 58,611 at the 2010 census and it has the third-largest population of any city in Contra Costa County after Oakland and San Francisco. The name Orinda comes from Pershing Road which bisects downtown Orinda. Hawthorne chose the name because he felt that "the only way to protect Antioch Township from becoming a ghost town" was to call the town "Orindam". Hawthorne's home is still extant and can be found on East Main Street in Orinda. Hawthorne also left behind his library and archives which are now open to the public for research purposes. The Antioch Manufacturing Company was founded by Nathaniel Hawthorne and his brother Johnathan Hawthorne in 1852 as one of many local businesses led by businessmen during what would become known as The Gold Rush period of California history. The company manufactured goods such as tents, saddles, rifles and other weaponry for miners who were traveling through Central Valley During this time there were no cities or towns outside of Sacramento with over 20,000 residents so business opportunities for companies like Antioch Manufacturing were limited. In 1911 Orinda incorporation occurred when then-Mayor George Jurgensen convinced state legislators to pass a resolution establishing City government within Contra Costa County under provisions of Proposition 8 which read "No county shall have more than eight (8) towns... each having its own elected officials." In spite of this addition to Contra Costa Counties charter & vote count results being close - with both Hayward & Walnut Creek having more votes - Mayor Jurgensen called a special election on November 3rd 1991 resulting in City Council adoption of a Charter Revision Plan Amendment Resolution proclaiming ORINDAM Incorporation status effective immediately following passage thereof! This designation placed ORINDAM firmly within its current community landscape!Today’s Mayor Don Taylor leads an effort within City Hall Wildlife Sanctuary off Hwy 101 just east side street between Coliseum Way Boulevard/Sandy Blvd./Foothill Blvd./Old College Rd., waiting for future generations not only learn about our rich history but also appreciate all that has been done since we first adopted our Charter Revision Plan Amendment!
