This was possible because there was no such thing as a standard barrel thread size for firearms at that time.
Orinda, California is a town in San Joaquin County, California, United States. The population was 11,541 at the 2010 census. Orinda is located east of Fresno on State Route 99 and north of Stockton on State Route 30. It is bordered by unincorporated communities of Atherton to the northwest, Chabot to the northeast, Lakeshore to the east and south and Porterville to the west. The first European settler in Orinda was George Washington Hill in 1851. A post office called Orinda was established in 1872, and remained operational until it was discontinued in 1899. The first store in Orinda opened on June 8, 1892. The town's name comes from nearby Rancho ORINDA which had been given to Daniel Webster Pinchot by his brother-in-law John Wrigley who also owned part of Rancho USF&SG (now known as UC Berkeley). In 1903, part of Rancho USF&SG became farmland that became Orinda Hills; however much of this land still remains within Orinda limits today. Orinda hills were named for two local brothers:Ornithus Longausser (1826–1912) and Ornithodoros Longausser (1828–1900). Brothers Ernestine and Harry Cook also played an important role in early industry with their bake ovens being used for baking bread during strikes at Union Carbide Company's plant just outside town in 1905-06 A high school built near what is now downtown Orinda opened its doors fall semester 1907 after years of planning by Mrs Jane Addams; under her leadership First Congregational Church moved into its own building on Main Street across from Central High School which served students from grades 9 through 12 until 1958 when it burned down due to overuse as a shopping center. Addams also funded construction of a new brick school building for East Side Elementary School which opened fall term 1959
Orinda, California was founded in 1868 by American gold seekers. The town became a post office in 1870 and a railway station in 1876. Orinda's first store was built on the site of what is now the Orinda Community College. In 1915, Orinda welcomed its first black resident when Alice Clements moved from Oakland to start her own grocery store.
