The Orange County community of Anaheim was the original location of a gun swivel manufacturing business. The first gun swivels were made in 1912 by A.B. Nichols and Brothers, a company that resided on State Street in Anaheim. This manufacture of pistol barrels turned out to be an important part of the country's defense against foreign aggression and helped contribute to the growth of this city during World War I. In 1933, Southeastern Firearms Manufacturing Company merged with National Firearms (now Sturm, Ruger & Co.) to form National Arms Corporation which manufactured handgun barrels and other firearms products throughout Southern California before being bought by Sturm, Ruger in 1978. In 1984, SWR Corp., successor company to National Arms Corporation formed a separate subsidiary called American Tactical Industries Incorporated located on Northfield Drive in Anaheim Hills to produce tactical rifles such as the M-1 Carbine and MP5A3 rifle under license from Heckler & Koch AG (H&K). In 1992 H&K acquired all assets of American Tactical Industries Incorporated including its production facilities in Irvine and Fullerton.
Orange is a city located in the Central Valley of California. The population was 116,824 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Francisco Bay Area and is surrounded by San Francisco,Oakland,Alameda, and Contra Costa Counties. The first European to see Orange was Giovanni da Verrazzano in 1542 during his mapping expedition along present day's coast from Baja California to central California. In 1793 Governor Manuel Micheltorena established an adobe mission called Rancho del Oroño on the hill now known as DonatellO’s Hill within what is now downtown Orange. A year later land grants were awarded for other sites throughout much of what are today Contra Costa County and Alameda County. Orange began as a small farmstead near where it stands today on January 24th 1872 by J.D. Payne who named it after his friend General John Cushing who had helped him buy some land in 1851-52 while serving in Mexico City as a lieutenant colonel in the United States Army Corps of Engineers under General Ulysses S Grant during the Mexican-American War (1846-48). Payne moved his family from this location to their current site near Mission Avenue and Peralta Street about two miles east of downtown on October 15th 1872 where they erected their original Adobe Wallsstyle log cabin which still stands today (located at 2nd Street between Mission and Alma Streets) . The town started off with only 10 residents including Mr. Payne, Mrs. Payne, three teenage daughters (one married), one male servant (Norman Davenport) and one female servant (Lena Dunham). There was no water or electricity until 1896 when work began on streetlights; however, nothing ever came of this project! It took another 20 years before sewer systems were built – finally launched into service in 1935! The first White flight occurred over Santa Clara Valley Airport on November 5th 1948 when United Airlines Flight 714 carrying four passengers originated from Orange; all five passengers disembarked safely but one passenger became ill en route and died shortly afterwards while being transported back to Oakland IL! In 1951 Orange voted “No” to Proposition 209 which sought voter enfranchisement for Latinos through bilingual voting ballots although many businesses did participate because they felt that such change would not benefit them personally; nevertheless Measure DD passed with 66% support despite opposition from business owners!!! In 1970s & 80s many new restaurants opened up especially around State Route 680 between DonatellO’s Hill Rd & Interstate Highway 280 thus helping spur development along that artery! currently there are more than 100 businesses operating out of downtown Orange alone including over 30 restaurants & cafes plus several dozen banks !! Downtown has seen numerous high profile events such as hosting Super Bowl 50 in 2014 (& again last year!), Golden State Warriors games both home & away since 1973 thru 2016 etc…. Although some Mainstream News outlets have tried to downplay or even cancel these events due to political correctness reasons….. overall things keep going strong!!

Three men - James Haggerty (the founder of Jardine & Haggerty), Al Smith (a grocery store owner) and George Ahern - purchased land north of City Hall to form Irvine Ranch Golf Course which included present-day Irvine Medical Center and Sleepy Hollow Park
