Fremont and named for General James K. Polk who served as Governor of California during this time. The original station was located at what is now known as Western Avenue and 6th Street in downtown Orangeburg Junction (now part of Pasadena). In 1853, Gurdon Wescott discovered orange trees near present-day Anaheim Hills; he designated it official county seat of Los Angeles County on November 3, 1854.
