On August 29, 1879, $1 million were sold at a public auction at Monterey Square to purchase land bounded by First Street on the east side and Wilmington Avenue on the west side – which formed today’s downtown Orange mixed use district – becoming one block long and four blocks wide when it was surveyed. When Mission Santa Ana de Anza closed its doors for good in 1892 due to funding issues caused by changes in government policy related to American entry into World War I, much OFA holdings passed through various hands until 1907 when they were acquired by entrepreneur Arthur Waddell Crosby who reorganized them as Hacienda Anaheim del Norte Limited Partnership under a new name: Southern Pacific Railroad Company On October 20th 1901 local businessman Augustus Pye organized a group including many OFA employees who had bought property northward along First Street from Crosby’s Hacienda Anaheim del Norte Limited Partnership stable yard and purchased it from him for $5 an acre ($21/acre at current prices). This site became home to Pye’s Depot Hardware Store where he served as Mayor pro tem from 1909 until 1912 In 1903 citrus grower Cesar Chavez acquired 1/3 interest in Los Angeles & Pomona Electric Railway Company which connected Fresno & Visalia with orange groves near Irvine; Chavez used these connections to develop oranges into a major commodity crop & build political power within Chávez's Communist Party USA

Orange is a small city in Northern California, located about midway between San Francisco and Los Angeles. The population of Orange County was 1,752 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Contra Costa County metropolitan area. The first people to live in what is now Orange were two families who came across the Bay Bridge from Sausalito on October 11, 1847. They named their new settlement Rancho Tiburon after Tiburon Creek, which they saw while crossing the bridge over the creek on their way to sell goods they had brought overland from Mexico. Although development slowed down during World War II because so much military housing had been built near San Francisco, growth resumed after hostilities ended when more civilian housing became available. In 1951, orange began offering its own internal transportation service with buses operated by Pacific Bus Lines (later known as Greyhound). A year later, Pacific Bus Lines merged with Amtrak to form Amtrak California Railroad USA (Amtrak CAL), which served orange through most of its existence other than periods from 1971-1991 when it served Southern Californian cities only). In 1984, Measure M ( Measures H & I) was passed that rezoned portions of southern Orange County including Anaheim into a planned city centred on Irvine instead ofOrange; Measure M divided OC into three zones: Zone A would encompass most of Anaheim east-of-the-Mendocino Mountains while Zone B would include most or all eastside neighborhoods west of Katella Avenue southward to Cypress Hills; Zone C would encompasses less populated areas within Irvine between Newport Beach Boulevard/ Seal Beach Boulevard and State Route 805/Katella Avenue northward to Mission Viejo Boulevard/Cypress Hills Road while zone D would annex eastern Santa Ana Canyonlands National Monument outside Los Angeles proper beyond Mulholland Drive/Rancho Santa Ana National Forest boundary line). With annexation came increased suburbanization which has led some residents to refer to Orange as "New Anaheim". The city limits have since been expanded once again above those originally delineated byMeasure M by adding Helen Drive extending north past Anaheim General Hospital towards Disneyland Resort]; however redevelopment has significantly decreased central business district attractions such as Universal Studios Hollywood Park and Honda Center making them less accessible compared with older days when these areas formed the backbone economic sectors for Orange
