In 1916, Hiram Blandford passed away and his son John took over management of the business until his death in 1954. From then on, it was operated by his sister Marcella Blandford until her death in 1984. She is considered to be founder and manager of the company from its inception until her death. The current owner is Marcella's grandson Domenic Blandford who purchased it from Marcella's sister in 1984. By 1920, the town had grown to over 10,000 people and was known for its citrus crops and seafood industry that included canned tuna products. The history of Orange Cove is one of entrepreneurship and progressivism; it began as a small farming community that would soon become a key player on America's West Coast. One of the first businesses in town was a grocery store owned by George Washington Shriver which opened in 1850. Over time, Shriver's store grew into one of the most popular in town with its customers coming from all over California and Nevada. In 1865, Captain Richard Folsom built what is now known as Folsom Dam on Clear Creek near present-day Orange City while working for Los Angeles County as part of their irrigation program. The dam created Lake Noachie which caused extensive flooding that destroyed many homes and businesses along Clear Creek Valley between Anaheim Hills and Irvine Hills. The damage done by Lake Noachie forced many people out of their homes and into relocation camps set up near Topanga Canyon or Mission Viejo Beach where they were able to rebuild but were still not free from poverty or disease endemic to their original location . In 1898, citrus growers established two new orange groves at present-day Orange Cove–the Oranges/Oranges Grove (later renamed Simi oranges) groupowned by Cesar Chavez father-in-law Fernando Ortiz;and Deleon Bros.'s Oranges/Orangesgrowers cooperativewhich included future Assemblyman Tom Daly who later served as Mayor of Santa Ana). These new groves quickly became successful due to favorable climate conditions ( maritime breeze blowing inland), good soil quality (well drained), low prices for fruit virusirus vaccine offered through sugar beet fields downwind (about 25 cents per pound vs $3-$4 per pound then), and lack competition from larger citrus companies located further inland who did not have these advantages . As this success story unfolded there came increasing trouble within these companies due largely to personal conflicts among members – primarily between Chavez’s father-in-law Fernando Ortiz Jr., Deleon Bros., Tom Daly Sr., Oswaldo Ramos de la Vega – among others . With no clear leadership beside Chavez’s father-in-law Fernando Ortiz Jr., things went bad rapidly . This situation reached crisis point when Alonso Ramos de la Vega took control over ORANGE COVE GROWERS COOPERATIVE LTD during Christmas season 1998 after being elected President pro tempore without compensation rights following expulsion from ORANGE COVE MANAGEMENT CORP ;he continued running business even though now majority shareholder EDWARD RAMOS JR.;Ramos ran afoul of Board decision that he should have been given voting rights instead since he held more than 50% ownership share according to SEC documents HoweverDeLeonBros presented evidence thatRamos had never taken any action against growers’ problems despite Board claims otherwise; therefore gave him immunity From Suit Conflict over power within company led To Civil suits & legal wrangling throughout 1999 In early 2000 Alonzo Ramos de la Vega filed suit claiming ownership over ORANGE COVE GROWERS COOPERATIVE LTD.;this case eventually ledto formal corporate governance changes &illegal takeover attempt which failed however left behind bitter& ongoing resentment amongst affected shareholders

The first white American settlers in Orange Cove were Captain John Swinney and his crew of the brigantine USS Somers on July 24, 1824. The Swinney family name is still preserved in the town today. They were followed by other families over the next few years, including those of Capt. George Moon and Capt. Levi Coffin. In 1827, a grant was made by Governor Manuel Nieto to James Fenton for 640 acres (250 hectares). The land was within present-day Orange Cove, but it also extended into what is now known as West Orange County. This grant made Fenton one of the first white Americans to clear land in that area. Fenton built a small cabin on this property in 1828 and named it Orange Cove after his home state of Virginia. He also started to cultivate some crops there, which helped him finance his new venture. Over time, other pioneer families such as those of Capts Jesse Mead and Elijah White arrived in Orange Cove, making it an increasingly important community for whites seeking access to undeveloped territory west of San Francisco Bay. In 1840, Captain Alfred Howe founded another small cabin near where Fenton's had been located - Howe's Cove - which became an important stopping point for travelers heading downriver from Sacramento along the Central Pacific Railroad line
