In 1906 during World War I as part of General MacArthur's drive into Mexico City beachheads developed along what are now Civic Center Drive NW & North Coast Highway; this area became known as MacArthur Park after General Douglas MacArthur's headquarters while he was Commanding Officer of U.S Forces West Indies during World War II
