The first gun mag in Oceanside was the Ocean View Gun Club, which opened its doors on December 5th, 1922. The club was started by seven men who met at the local YMCA. They pooled their money and bought a few handguns to carry around with them. In 1925, the club purchased its first ammo store and began selling guns to civilians and military members stationed in nearby San Diego. In 1933, the Ocean View Gun Club moved from its original location on Pacific Avenue to 6500 North State Highway 101 in Seaside Heights. While still an affiliated club, it became an independent business in 1934 when it merged with another gun club located in Del Mar. The Del Mar Gun Club was founded by Captains John Purdy and Harry Weindorf Sr., both of whom were major figures within the California Marine Corps (CMC). The CMC had been disbanded following World War I and their assets were seized by state authorities. The new owners decided to start a new gun society that would be open to all service members who wished to join. The Del Mar Gun Club quickly grew into one of Oceanside's most popular firearms clubs with membership reaching over 100 people by 1937. It continued operations until 1979 when it closed its doors for good due to financial troubles.

Oceanside is a city in Orange County, California, United States. The population was 1,828 at the 2010 census. It is located on the eastern coast of San Diego County and bordered by Carlsbad to the north, Huntington Beach to the east, and Northridge to the south. The first Europeans who set foot in what is now Oceanside were Spanish soldiers who arrived in 1769 during Mission San Diego de Alcalá's attempt to establish a new settlement on Padres Peninsula. The head of mission and military garrison was Don Manuel Osuna y Gómez. In 1821 Mexican troops under General José Joaquín Vallejo invaded California and discovered Lompoc Bay; they renamed it Oceanside after then-Governor Juan Bautista de Anza granted them land in that area as part of Rancho Santa Margarita. After Mexico's independence from Spain in 1821, Mexico continued to administer parts of California through its various ministries including this one; Oceanside became part of Rancho Santa Margarita until it was sold to American parties led by Commodore John D'IBbets on July 10, 1853 for $5 million ($ whenadjusted). The town site was surveyed by Captain Augustus Earp on October 15, 1853 and platted on November 3 under his charge as "Earp's Bluff", named for him. There may have been some earlier settlements here but no evidence has ever been found which would allow us to date their origins or disappearances completely. In 1860s an outbreak of smallpox killed more than 100% of residents living near Laguna Beach so quickly that Drs Quiroz and Rodriguez developed a vaccine against it before any other country did so; they called their new product “Pneumococcus Vaccine” (later publicized as Preexisting Immunization Program). With limited resources at their disposal due to political reasons (the growing Gold Rush brought unprecedented wealth into Southern California), Quiroz & Rodriguez spent many years perfecting their vaccine until finally producing a safe product ready for mass production in 1880 which saved countless lives – both human beings and animals – during the bubonic plague pandemic sweeping Europe at that time. During World War II much effort went into providing supplies such as food rations for troops stationed along our coastlines - something we still *do* today! One particular contribution made by Ocean View businesses was supplying Petco Park with fuel necessary for fire engines used during WWII while also maintaining parking lots available 24/7! In 1932 City Manager Fenton appointed George Wetherbee as director of Public Works (DPW) effective January 1st following campaign promise he had made prior to his election victory over incumbent George Cisneros Sr.. It should be noted that Mr. Wetherbee never served out his full term because upon expiration of his unexpired contract he resigned without having attended any meeting scheduled for that purpose... He then took up another position within City Hall less than 12 months later where he remains today! A few weeks prior thereto Mr. Wetherbee had successfully lobbied State Senator Hennessey 'to provide funds needed for streetlights throughout town', resulting in light being placed approximately 4 blocks north down Broadway from current location just past First Street intersection...... This accomplishment alone would not have been possible without the tireless efforts put forth by DPW Director George Wetherbee during those early days!! Notwithstanding all these successes however beginning with Supervisor Hennessey's hiring OFW Tom Kappenhahn began doing everything within his power - even going so far as changing hours at one office building several times so employees could work uninterruptedly night shifts!!! Over time things changed very significantly within our city government with Supervisor Hennessey taking ultimate control leading directly to high standards being setter such as appointing only 2 individuals per district instead of 5+ present day... Many thanks go out once again especially TO Tom Kappenhahn who continues putting INNOCENT People FIRST every day despite difficult circumstances !!”
