Oceanside is a city in San Diego County, California, United States. The population was 23,554 at the 2010 census. This small island would be later known as Point Reyes National Seashore (), became part of California when Mexico acquired it during World War II as part of Rancho Rinconada land acquisition project (). After World War II many families moved into Point Reyes so that they could enjoy their new surroundings while still answering concerns about atomic radiation from nearby Los Alamos National Laboratory (); however most people abandoned Point Reyes soon after nuclear testing began there (1946). In 1860, the communities of San Diego and Conshohocken were merged to form one town, which was known then as "Ocean Beach." The name was changed in 1922 when Ocean Beach became an incorporated city. Oceanside is located on the eastern edge of County Heights, adjacent to Imperial County.
