Through his tenure at Wright Brothers Aviation Company, Bill helped develop many new technologies including airframe design and engine development which later led to planes such as the Boeing 747 airliner and Douglas DC-8 jetliner series. In 1984, then Mayor Bob Filner announced plans for Ocean City Beach Pavilion which would be built on former Navy shipyards adjacent to downtown Oceanside. The project went through several phases before it was finally completed in 1990-91 with much fanfare including a world record break by helicopter landing on top of the pavilion during summertime! Today’s Ocean City Beach Pavilion is one of California’s most popular tourist attractions with more than 24 million visitors every year!
