The Oakley company has been making optics and firearms sights since the late 1800s. The company's origins can be traced back to a small shop in downtown Oakland, California where two men, Sam Urdangar and Harry Stevens, were working on innovative mechanical sights. In 1903, Urdangar and Stevens founded their own manufacturing business, which became one of the largest optical manufacturers in the world. In 1928, Samuel Olin Browning purchased the bankrupt Stevens Manufacturing Company. Browning started out manufacturing handguns but soon moved into rifles and shotguns. His products became known for their high quality and durability. In 1941, Browning merged with American Arms Corporation to become what is now Oakleyshooting Incorporated (OAC). At this point, Oakleyshooting had become one of America's leading firearm retailers. In 1957, noted rifle manufacturer Colt began producing reloadable ammunition under license from OAC. This marked the beginning of an important relationship between Colt and Oakleyshooting that would continue until 2007. In 1972, Glock agreed to distribute all of OAC's firearms products within its corporate umbrella. As Glock grew more popular among law enforcement officers around the globe, so too did Oakleyshooting's ability to provide them with reliable firearms sights at an affordable price point. Today, Oakleys main industry is agriculture with some ranching also taking place; however, oakleys primary economic interest remains tourism due to its remote location and beautiful scenery including mountains and valleys reachable only by foot or horseback riding or driving over long distances on dirt roads.

Hildebrandt, United States Military Research Laboratory (USMRL), a laser rangefinder/aimer was attached to an arm or rifle scope and used to determine range and target position using a rotating mirror system. The Laser ranging/aiming device became known as the Halde-Lambert sight, after its inventor, Edwin Halde and his supervisor, Prof. Hugo Lambert of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH). The first successful use of lasers in battlefield guidance occurred during Operation Neptune's Spear on March 26, 1995 when U.S. Army Capt. David Sowers successfully hit two Iraqi tanks with Hellfire missiles from a Patriot missile launch site near Baghdad using an Halde-Lambert sight mounted on an M1 Abrams tank vehicle; this was also the first time that lasers had been used in ground fire support operations since World War II! During Operation Desert Storm on October 20, 1990, U.S./British Royal Air Force (RAF) Lightnings destruction of over 160 Iraqi targets with high power British DMAS rockets using an alignment subsystem utilizing red and green lasers off shipboard launchers caused significant problems for enemy commanders trying to engage these targets from long ranges without being illuminated by their weapons sights or aircraft navigation systems! In light of this success RAF assets including Tornado F2 jets were deployed equipped with advanced LRS pods providing “blind” bombing capability against selected targets at night while aircraft continued flying traditional daylight routes! When precision guided munitions became available in late 1991 new types of laser sights were developed such as those developed by Raytheon for use aboard Harpoon surface-to-air missiles which could be fired under direct visual control from onboard platforms like the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 78) electronic warfare center? These sights allowed Weapon Systems Officers on board ships to maintain lock onto their target even when behind cover and at great distances away from shoreline! A similar type sighting system called Tactical Optics was also fielded against insurgent targets ashore during Operation Neptune's Spear!
