In 1825, Augustus Mitchell set up the first observatory in Oakland and began using a mirror telescope to survey the Bay Area for land grants. This led to further advancements in astronomy from this period onwards. By 1858, Leland Stanford had developed an observatory on San Pablo Avenue in Oakland and began using a reflecting telescope to make accurate predictions about weather patterns. This helped spur technological advances such as photography and radar during this time period. In 1872, John Herschel built the new Observatory at peak production with state-of-the-art technology including an elliptical reflector telescope that could look out over 530 miles! This allowed him to observe stars far beyond our Milky Way galaxy! By 1901, most of California had been explored and mapped with mapping tools like Surveyors' Mapping & Aerial Photography (SMAP) which allowed scientists to accurately track changes in climate throughout their range! However, scopes continued being prominent during these years as they became more affordable and easier to use than traditional surveying equipment. Today, Oakland is home to many famous astronomers who continue using high quality scopes for research purposes all across the Bay Area!

Warehouse workers brought loads of produce downriver to Market Street marketplaces such as Mayfair before being offloaded on wharves on San Pablo Bayou where they sold their catch directly to consumers or shipping companies such as John Dory & Sons dockboats which carried goods upriver to inland markets like Sacramento or Berkeley

In 1916, oakland's City Council passed an ordinance establishing park boundaries which are still used today
