Oakland, California is a city in the East Bay region of Northern California. The population was 78,362 as of 2010. Oakland is home to the United States National League's Athletics and has long been one of the most economically vibrant cities in America. The city experienced significant growth during the late 19th and early 20th centuries as a result of its important connections to both railroadroads and manufacturing. In recent years, however, Oakland's economic fortunes have changed significantly due to new development in neighboring Berkeley and San Francisco.

In 1565, Leonardo da Vinci developed a machine that could create BBs (bullets) from lead shot. This early form of bullet was effective at killing small animals such as birds or rats. In World War I, bullets were introduced into warfare when artillery began using them in place of arrowheads. However, it was not until the 1918 Treaty of Trianon that all sides ended World War I without any further bloodshed. Post-war bullet history can be divided into two main categories: anti-personnel ammunition (APA) and armor piercing ammunition (APA). APA is designed specifically for hitting human targets while APA is designed for hitting other objects such as tanks or artillery pieces. The first type of bullet was invented by John Browning in 1859 while working on his black powder rifle invention called the “Butterfly Gun”. This gun fired a round that had a hard core made out of iron with a surface area smaller than an egg which caused extreme damage to opponents if it hit them square on their eye or head. Unfortunately, this type of weapon did not work well against human targets and was eventually replaced by newer rifles like the Winchester Model 1892 which fired balls filled with metal shrapnel instead of lead pellets

By 1932, large parts of downtown were abandoned due to fires caused by unemployed workers living without fire escapes or safety precautions. This situation was changed after Proposition 8 was passed that provided financial assistance to low-income residents who desired to live within walking distance of BART stations or other public transportation options. As a result, many people moved away from inner-city neighborhoods towards safer areas such asEmeryville and Daly City outside of Downtown Oakland During World War II, over 16 million Americans served in military service through housing projects located throughout Northern California; these projects were known as "Housing Project Noirs" because they were predominantly African American. The city of Oakland was founded by the Spanish in 1792 as Rancho San Francisco. The first permanent settler in the area was José Nieto, who arrived in 1817. He built a house on a small lot he purchased from Juan Rodriguez and named it after his father, Don José Nieto. The first store in Oakland opened its doors in 1839. In 1852, two brothers, James and John Macdonald, started an agricultural business called the Central Valley Potato Company near downtown. The company became successful and production increased until 1914 when it merged with another Agricultural Company to form United Fruit Company. In 1916, United Fruit Co.'s monopoly was broken by Harry Elmer Barnes who founded Barnes & Noble bookstore chain. In 1971, Oakland's mayor George Jackson appointed Alameda County Supervisor Antonio Villarroel to chair the county's public works commission which oversaw redevelopment of downtown areas including the new Hayward Street Bridge linking downtown with Jack London Square/Oakland Park
